I've purchased several flash card packages from School Zone now, and they're just great! The cards are about the same card stock as playing cards, with one side shiny/laminated and the other side not. One thing I noted was that despite the "flimsiness" of the cards that other reviewers mentioned, these cards can take a beating - my two toddlers have bent, squashed, and thrown around these cards and amazingly none of them have torn! Even if they did, for less than $2 a pack, it's not a problem. We like to hole punch a single hole in the corner of the card and keep them together with one of those circular binder clips - it keeps the cards together and we can just toss the whole pack in the kid's backpacks/in the car for them to play with when we go on trips.Highly recommended!
I love that I found a set of flash cards that demonstrates upper and lower case letters on different cards. My daughter at 2 years old was great with her alphabet but only in upper case. Introducing the lower case became a little confusing. These helped her to learn the difference.
I wanted cards that showed the capital and lower case letters separate from each other... since I teach 2-year olds only the capitals and then teach the lower case letters when 3-years old. I also like, how the kids can match capital and lower case together though I think the pictures may help some kids "cheat" if they know the picture words/sounds. I don't think these cards will last very long, but my 7 month old son loved looking at them... I made sure he didn't touch them because not coated or thick cardboard.
I think these are good flash cards because the illustrations are recognizable and there are enough examples for the most commonly used letters. My children love using them. They don't seem to get tired of using flashcards in general. I think this is a great learning tool. I've purchased more expensive cards that are more durable, but I don't recommend paying for the highest quality physical cards as children are likely to master the lessons before cards get worn out. Also, it's fun to use flashcards to teach children. There are a lot of laughs and it keeps everyone going.
Like other reviewers, I bought these cards for the simplicity. The letters and clear and the words and pictures make sense. A nice set of cards. They have been sturdy enough for regular use in our home.
Having upper and lowercase was especially helpful. I bought two sets for my 3 year old so we could work on matching upper with uppercase before moving on to the more difficult task of matching upper and lower. At this price, this was convenient and not costly to do!
My son has loved these since he was a yr old and still does! They are great for learning the word, rhyming, letters etc. The objects are kiddish but not overly so, so they are attracted to the cards and can put an actual object with the name
The Graphics are cute and clear, great cards. That's exactly what I was looking for: simple card with 1 item on it, with words and cute pictures!!!
