If you are looking for book to introduce your children to John Chapman keep looking. There are much better texts in my (and my children's') opinion.[We liked the primer by Patricia Demuth (4 stars), and the introductory texts by: Aliki (5 stars), David L. Harrison (5 stars), and Steven Kellogg (4 stars). If you want to a book your children can read to accompany some other text, this one might be a good choice. In a poetic form, this book touches on various aspects of John's life. The fact that he walked barefoot down the Ohio valley (no mention of his more westward journeys), and the fact that he traded various items for his little plants.Three Stars. C+. Nice artwork. Okay presentation. If you want you child to understand about Johnny Appleseed you will have to supplement with either other texts or with your own knowledge to 'fill in the cracks'.
Purchased this for my pre school children so they could learn about the Johnny Appleseed legend. Many different versions out there, but this was perfect for a young mind.
Great story for our garden club to use with younger children during Arbor Day lessons. Nice illustrations and easy for younger students to grasp the concept of a tree growing from a small seed.
I used this story for a children's sermon to discuss spreading the good news of the Lord. Great read for all ages.
Great book for my grandson. He needed it for his school costume. It arrived on time and it was a great success
Perfect little story for my amost 3 yr old grand daughter
Very clear for my son to read... Thank youMaria R
