He’s just a kid who’s four, each day he grows (on me) some more. He waits for Santa. He’s Caillou! And he’s back just in time for the Christmas holidays in CAILLOU WAITS FOR SANTA.Many kids love Caillou, and those who recognize him at all would enjoy this book. My daughter, who has mostly outgrown Caillou, was a fan of this one as the story itself is timeless. CAILLOU WAITS FOR SANTA takes readers into Caillou’s household on the night before Christmas. He is antsy for Santa to arrive, wants to open presents, and teaches his sister Rosie all about the annual anticipatory tradition. There is cookie baking, leaving carrots for the reindeer, and the grandparents show up. Caillou tries so hard to stay awake and wait for Santa, we have a Caillou imagination cut scene, then Christmas morning finally arrives!Kids around the world who celebrate Christmas would relate to this book. So much of it reminds me of my own childhood Christmas Eve holidays, although Caillou’s family never needs to be told to lay off of the eggnog and his grandma isn't burning a ham. My daughter loved the book, saying, “Hey, Caillou does some of the same things we do!” She loved seeing that others had similar traditions. We read it a few times, and I am sure it will be in heavy Christmas-story reading rotation after Thanksgiving. The illustrations are cute and what you would expect from a Caillou book.One of the biggest complaints that many people have about Caillou is that his nonstop whining is enough to drive someone mad. While I cannot confirm this, there are tales of a Canadian couple who sold all of their possessions and living in a cave after a Saturday morning Caillou marathon. I am pleased to announce that this book is whine-free!
