If you enjoy Elsa Beskow's illustrations, you will love this calendar. Large, with a nice variety of Beskow pix. I know there is another of her calendars for sale, which is receiving complaints that the weeks confusingly begin on Mondays instead of Sundays. This calendar's weeks, however, happily begin with Sundays. The calendar lists major American holidays along with some European ones.
Beskow's work continues to amaze me. It is easy to take her for granted, but this would be a mistake. She continues to speak to us because her world is so delightful. Her imagery is simultaneously surprising and familiar.Many of the other authors in her genre are disturbingly inauthentic or appear to be passing off drug addled nonsense as children's fiction. Beskow's writing and art seem to be an expression of love for the forest, the countryside, and children.I hope that she will always be relevant.
