Aang and the gang are back in this 230-page compilation of mini-comics of their mis-adventures, as they made their way to fight the fire lord. Chronologically in order, the book was separated into 3 chapters: the water, earth and fire kingdoms. The length of the mini-comics ranged from 2 to 6 pages long. Every comic were stand alone reads and showcased quick adventures that happen "behind the scenes" of the cartoon. Humor, that the show was famous for, was evident within the panels. They were witty with a little bit of irony thrown in. Even if you don't laugh out loud at the gangs' antics, you will definitely smile. The pages are tight and glossy. Paper quality is similar to textbook pages. The colors and lines are sharp, clear and defined. The artwork was similar to the original style from the show but there were a couple of comics were slightly different. For most people, the font was a decent size and comparable to the standard size of comic books. If you have a hard time reading smaller font, it might be an issue. In the back, there are a few pages dedicated to the people, involved with the show, with a quick bio and some sketches (if you have the artbook, it was just a reprint of some of the pages). If you are like me and came into "The Last Airbender" late, and never got a chance to read the comics, now is your chance to get the reprint. Even if you have read them, this is a great way to keep the comics in one place in one slim book. Even if you aren't a fan, this book is entertaining enough to hold its own. It was a fast read but you will definitely go back to your favorites and read it over and over again. Should you get it? Definitely.

Like any fan of the original series, I was crest fallen after the finale, having been left to wonder at what would become of our heroes. (Naturally, I was disgusted at Shyamalan's lack luster film that turned the first season into a Twilight-esque abomination!) This comic was a true piece of genius, bringing the apparently cannon comics printed by Nickelodeon Magazine - done in collaboration with the show's own talent - back to print and all together for the first time. These are the untold stories of the Avatar Universe, filled to the brim with the spirit and style of the show. As a fan from the very beginning, I was rapt in reading these stories - adventures with the Gaang I never got to embark on in the show's running. This comic is an overall refreshing and fun experience that every true Avatard should experience. My hat goes off to the artists and I wish them luck with the NEW ATLA GRAPHIC NOVEL SERIES coming next year!

ARC provided by netGalleyAre you a fan of the animated "Avatar: the Last Airbender" (not the movie)? If you are then this book is for you. Aang and the gang return for a series of 26 short comics, some of which have never been published before. The book is dived into three sections to match the TV show--water, earth, and fire.If you're looking for full length feature episodes in comic format then you'll be disappointed. If you're looking, however for stories that flesh out what went on in between the episodes then this book is right up your alley. These stories are mini-adventures that in some places add to the cannon, such as seeing Aang with his fire bending friend before Aang was frozen in the ice; and a story that reveals the fall of Ba Seng Se. The sense of humor and friendship from the series continues over into the writing of all of these comics. And the artwork is rich and vibrant as the series. It's fun to see how different artists add their own unique twist to the characters and depict them in slightly different styles than we're used to seeing them. The book started off slow, but really picked up in the 2nd and 3rd acts. If you're a fan of the series then you'll enjoy this book.

This comic contains all the Airbender mini stories that were released in Nickelodeon Magazine throughout the airing of the 3 TV seasons. The stories are very true to character and are neat fill-ins to the storyline that fans of the TV series well know. Definitely worth adding to your Airbender collection.
