Exactly the story of the Gingerbread Man I remember from my childhood. Adorable pictures. Loved sharing it with my grandchild who enjoyed saying the refrain "Run, run, as fast as you can! You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!" Sweet story. After reading it, we baked gingerbread men together and gobbled them up like the fox. Provided a truly fun time with my grandchild!

Little Golden Books are great. This one is a classic, and the artwork is awesome! The gingerbread man and all the characters have so much personality! This is a must read...my 6 year old loved it. Yes (spoiler alert) the gingerbread man does die at the end, but it isn't upsetting at all:)

Just about everyone knows the story of the Gingerbread Man. Contrary to what the movie SHREK shows, The Gingerbread Man was not a kind, Tiny Tim-like creature. Instead, he's a nasty little piece of baked goods that runs away from his creators, teases everyone he meets, and pushes others in wells, and knocks over their picnic baskets. Granted the Gingerbread Man had every right to run away from the little old lady and little old man, they probably would have eaten him if they caught him. But all the teasing and dangerous pranks he does later are uncalled for. Anyway, enough rambling. This story contains ths classic fairy tale of the Gingerbread Man as told and illustrated by Richard Scarry. Like all of Scarry's works it is beautifully illustrated. A great book.

In our house we collect Golden Books and always enjoy Richard Scarry's illustrations. We greatly enjoy his My First Little Golden Book: The Gingerbread Man, and Grandma added this edition to our library. The story is cute and classic. Who doesn't love repeating, "run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!"? The cleverness of Fox is always satisfying. "...the Fox gobbled him up! And that is just what should happen to all gingerbread men!"

Great book!! Exactly like I remember as a child. I bought this for my 3 year old granddaughter for Christmas and I can't wait to see her face!! She absolutely loves books!!

My 3yr-old son loves this book and the repetition of the key phrase, "You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man."

Great for our grandkids to read. Short but great stories. Would definitely buy the Golden Books again.

I always loved this book as a child, now my grandson loves it too. I read it to him often.
