If you are not a complete airhead like myself then you probably realized what this book was all about before you bought it but just in case I can help somebody I'm going to throw this out there. For some reason I was under the impression that this book involved the use of an actual flashlight in some way. It totally doesn't. There are flashlight beams that the reader can move around to highlight different ocean creatures on each page. It's a really neat book and my son (an Octonauts lover) reads it to himself every night. Still I can't help feel disappointed that it wasn't what I imagined.
A really cool book. There isn't a real flash light for those who are wondering, its a piece of paper flashlight but the book is set up so that when u move the "flashlight" paper under the dark part of the page, that part gets "illuminated". There are different animals seen with the flashlight on one page and some writings on the other page. The downside is that book only has 6 or 7 pages. Pretty unique and entertaining otherwise.
my twins can't get enough of this book. the flashlight feature is so much fun. my toddler got a hold of this book unsupervised (my fault) and easily tore the edges of the pages where you hold the flashlight, but it was easily fixed with some scotch tape. if that could somehow be reinforced or laminated, this book would be perfect! other than that, it's a pretty fantastic book and my twins love playing with it.
My toddler LOVES this book. We take it along while traveling and it entertains him for a very long time at the airport and on the plane. The book is written for elementary age, but that actually works well for a toddler- we can read a bit at a time, look for the sea creatures and then read a bit more. It makes the book more interesting each time we read it and my child knows very advanced words for a 2 year old. He'll even look for sting rays at the beach when we go!
Bought this book to complete our set. We also have Moonlight Animals. My child loves the pictures, has learned the words written under the "seek and find" pictures and enjoys moving the flashlights around the pages. It's a hit!
A very interesting book. My 4 year old grandson loves books on the ocean and it's creatures. This book has the additional fun element of a pretend flashlight which was a different way of reading through the story. I highly recommend it.
Got both of her books for the granddaughter. She loves looking for the hidden pictures and navigates the flashlight very well for 2 1/2. She also has learned the names of the things she's looking for!
Bought this for my 3 year old grandson on the advice of a friend who had purchased it for her grandson who's a bit older. Wonderful interactive book that is lots of fun to read and my little guy is learning as well. Great book.
