I can't remember where my son got this book or for how long we have had, but I do know how much we enjoy it. It's a short story so it's usually one of two bedtime books. This book took the legendary story of The Three Little Pigs and gave it a face lift. Instead of the Three Little Pigs, we have Three Little Fish. Instead of the Big Bad Wolf, we have The Big Bad Shark. It's the same basic plot with a new setting, the ocean. The pictures are very vibrant and the story is fun to read. The words are fairly large, making it easy to point them out as I read. The author has also added a female to the story. Instead of all three of the fish being brothers like in the classic piggy story, they have added one sister fish.Like the original, the story is brief. What I like about the brevity and repetition is I can easily point out the words while I read. Hopefully the familiarity of using some of the same words and sentences repeatedly will help my son recognize those words and eventually help him read.As someone who enjoys the repetition for teaching, but was a bit burned out on the pigs, this book was a refreshing and enjoyable change. I give it two fins up!Cherise Everhard, Feb. 2008

My four year old son loves the story of the three little pigs which is why I purchased this book. I was so pleased when it arrived. The illustrations are beautifully done, the colors are vibrant and the print is large. The story is quick and easy to read and the repetition, just like in "The Three Little Pigs," makes it very catchy. Examples: "Little Fish, Little Fish, Let Me Come In." "Not by the skin of my finny fin fin!" "Then I'll munch and I'll crunch and I'll smash your house in." A quick and fun read!

Another enjoyable book for young people. Just as cute as it can be. It is fun to read this one with children after you have read The Three Little Pigs. The illustrations are very colorful and nice. I just liked this book really well. So did our little people.

I am not sure here if I am writing a review on the book or the company I bought it from. Both are wonderful. The book is a different version of the Three Little Pigs. It's wonderful for a beach or ocean theme storytime. This book company shipped very fast, and the book was in great condition!!

This is a fun, entertaining version of The Three Little Pigs. It is great for use in the classroom - it is short and relatively simple (so fits well into the whole group reading block) but lends itself to motivation as well as educational purposes. Even from the title, students will get the connection to the original story. This is motivating and really helps some students who may still be struggling with language and/or comprehension to understand the story. It is great for teaching story elements because knowledge of the other story gives struggling students scaffolding to understands characters, problem, and solution, but it also leads to higher-level thinking with a discussion about how changing the setting really changes the story. Its also great for using with a Venn diagram or other tool for comparing/contrasting as well as predictions both before and during reading. I often do it as a little unit together with the classic story and other versions such as The Three Little Tamales by Eric Kimmel and really talk about how the characters, problem, and solution are similar/the same, but the setting really changes the story and how.Anyway, this is a fun book both just to read and to really think about and use. Every year it ends up being one of my students' favorite books!

Beautiful shiny cover and bright illustrations are a plus. I didn't care for the large randomly placed and randomly sized font. This was a basic simple retelling of the Three Little Pigs story with a clever substitution of "Not by the skin of my finny fin fin". Good length for children with short attention span. My 2.5 year old granddaughter fell in love with Three Little Gators (by far the best of the spins on the Three Little Pigs in our opinion) so I ordered this. It was kind of a let down after the Gators version.

In addition to being a fun story, this book can be used to get kids thinking beyond the story by comparing and contrasting with the original Three Little Pigs. Would be a great introduction to a writing project in which they create a story using another classic as the basis.

This is a good story. It is an exact copy of the original, just substituting the animals. My son likes fish and sharks so he loves it. Just know what you are getting here - it's not a refresh, just an animal swap.
