My son is enthralled with the Logging Locos, and he's a beginning reader. We first got Happy Birthday Thomas in this series, and it was the perfect level for him (other Thomas books tend to be more difficult to read and frankly a little tedious). He was really excited to read this book and very proud to be able to do so. The only drawback is that there isn't really a story here. Just sort of "here is Bash, here is Dash, watch out!" text. You get much more out of it if you also talk about the pictures and what's happening and what might happen next. Also the binding is not good, our pages are falling out and have to be taped back in.But my son loves it and is happy to read this.
My 2 and 4 year olds LOVE Thomas, and even enjoy this book, but the story is disappointing to me because there's no plot or moral. It's just about Bash and Dash driving around wrecklessly. Most Thomas stories teach kids about working together, but this book is about misbehaving and getting away with it.
Step into Reading brand books are the BEST beginner reading books. They use repetition which is very important in learning how to read and they use small beginner words. The book also has three to four words to a page. I can go on and on how my 3 year old, 4 year old and 5 year old have learned how to read from these books.
My son is absolutely in love with Thomas the Train and Bash and Dash are his absolute favorites. This book is a perfect beginner reading book as well as a fun book about two of the lesser known characters. Highly recommend it!
Great book for children that are interested in reading, but not quite there yet. Not so fast Bash and Dash flows as well and simply as any beginning reading books I had in kindergarten when I grew up. More engaging than 'See Spot Run' too.
This reading readiness Level 1 story is helpful in teaching safety and patience!! Thomas has two new characters here that seem to act before thinking things through.
Bought several of these books to get my 5 and 3 year old interesting in reading at night. They love them! Can't wait until they can read them back to me:)
My son loves Thomas the Train and this is a great book to add to his collection. This is a quick and easy read for those that are first leaning to read.
