Gave this book as a gift never having read it before. I thought it was a book about food. I didn't know it was a book about food for animals. I read it with my friend's 3 year old daughter and we couldn't figure it out-- you were supposed to match to food to the animal by flipping the bottom half of the page but it was confusing-- do horses eat carrots or apples? Who eats grass? Where is the education in this because I think horses eat carrots and apples and grass?Anyway, I really wanted a book about food for kids.

This book is full of great pictures and learning opportunities. You turn the top of the page to an animal and then you must turn the bottom pages until you find the food that, that animal eats. The bear eats honey etc. Eric Carle's art is beautiful and our whole family enjoys looking at and reading his work.

I thought this was a story book. Eric Carle normally writes clever stories for kids, but this is more of a flash card book at best. You match up the animal with the food they eat, i.e. bear eats honey; bunny eats carrot. I find it boring and my toddler doesn't know what to do with it. If you like Eric Carle go with The 10 Rubber Duckies or Brown Bear Brown Bear.

A little tricky for smaller hands (the pages are split horizontally) and younger minds (I am an educator) and I think these concepts are better suited for 4-5yos but many buy board books for younger kids. If you like Eric Carle books for the stories- this isn't for you. If you like Eric Carle for the illustrations this MIGHT be for you.

I purchased this for my sister as a gift. I absolutely love Eric Carle and I felt that this book, "Food," has many different ways and uses to be able to teach and engage your child. The book is much like a matching game, thus the pages are split and this may initially feel awkward, but I believe overtime you will grow accustom to this. I think this book is a must for any child's library.

Our daughter is so into it and can't put it down. It's interactive and age appropriateDISCLAIMER: I received this product at sale price and this is my honest and unbiased review

Well written, great board book for the little ones to look at and chew on. Good quality construction so you won't have to worry about baby chewing it to bits before the age of basic words.

What an adorable little book. The format really surprised me it is a double flip book that really made my daughter look closer and the items on the page.
