My son (5 years old) picked out this book because we were getting bored with the ones in his collection. I let him order at LEAST one new book a week, but in most cases I get him more than that because we're trying to get him ready for kindergarten this year and I want him to have a jump start. Sometimes I pick the book (usually when a Step 1 type reader goes on sale I grab it), but this time he wanted to pick so I let him.He had many choices, and he decided on this one this time around. I think it was a perfect choice. There is a LOT of repetition, which is great for a learning reader. A lot of rhyming too, so he was able to learn a few new words and he was so excited he was able to read most of this book without any of my help!We read at LEAST one story every night before bed, but normally we do 2-3 between him and his baby sister wanting different stories. It's an every night thing so we can get him interested in reading, and reading better by the time school starts. I'm really glad he chose this one, because he loved it, and my youngest loved listening to him read it as well.
