We were a little disappointed with this book and a couple of the other board books in this series. Our one-year-old son LOVES the full size "How Do Dinosaurs" story books, but he hardly pays attention to the board books.First of all, the words and rhymes aren't as clever. Maybe the concept of counting or colors just isn't as good of a material as going to bed, eating your food, or going to the doctor.Second, the books are short and the artwork is very scaled down and much simpler. My son loves the artwork in the bigger books but the white background in these is kind of boring.Maybe time will tell, but he is getting past the board book stage and I am just not sure that these books will hold the attention of kids who are at an age for learning colors or numbers. I wish there was a full-size version, and I wish I had known the content of the board books was not as good as the big books. Now YOU do!
We have the board book. Someone here mentioned that the board books are different than the big books, so take that into consideration.This is ridiculous. The first page teaches the color red. The RED fire truck is so small, it takes up less than 5% of the whole page. You can barely see the color red. Then the worst is the page that teaches the color brown. Brown circles on a calendar. What?? I can barely see it, let alone see the colors. Isn't the whole point of this book to make color obvious?This is the only review I've done on kid's books, but it warrants it. It is the worst book I've bought yet for my son!
A very cute hardback book in the How Do Dinosaurs series. My little one loves rhyming books and was a huge fan of How Do Dinosaurs play with their friends and How to Dinosaurs Say Goodnight. This book doesn't disappoint. Since we get to read it once or twice every night he is learning from it and memorizing the words. The illustrations are fun and colorful as well. I love the hardback, board book because my kid can't accidentally rip it in his excitement to reenact the dinosaurs behavior. I highly recommend this book for your kid or as part of a birthday gift for another kid. Give the gift of reading!
In a day and age where some children do not always have the advantage of being taught etiquette, I find these books to be such a positive way to teach children kindness and manners. They have a sense of humor that both adults and children can enjoy and learn a positive message about so many different things. You cannot buy manners, you either have them or you don't. Kindness, respect, please and thank you can mean so much for any little thing in life and enrich your life at the same time. I love to give these books as presents because they provide a positive message on sometimes difficult things to express to any one at any age.
Just as good as the dinosaur counting in the series. I love the illustrations, and my son loves dinosaurs especially when they are playing with cars, trucks, and trains so it's a win-win. It's a popular book in the bedtime reading repertoire. The colors go beyond just Roy G. Biv, but include brown, pink, white, and black as well. I will be purchasing more books from this author.
I loved the illustrations and that they were labeled with the dinosaur names. The dinosaurs in the books aren't the typical T-Rex, stegosaurus or triceratops. They are in the books, but there are some other, not so popular dinosaurs shown too so that the child can learn more about different dinosaurs with which they may not be familiar.
My grandson loves these book and now his baby sister brings them to me to read to her. They are tough too. Non of these have fallen apart after pretty rough handling from a 3 yr old and and 1 yr old. That makes for good value and happy customers. Many other books have fallen apart under the abuse.
I just love all if Jane Yolen's Dinosaur books. They are fun for children and adults alike. My son easily memorized them when he was very small because he loved them so much. He just loves How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night? Awesome book!
