This is a truly wonderful book for the curious. My son is borderline obsessed with dinosaurs and craves facts about them. This book was a perfect present, and we have already re-read it time and time again. He is only 4, so some things are a bit over his head, but it is very enjoyable nonetheless.

Somebody found a bone. A huge bone! A bone that was so big that it couldn’t have come from the largest animal such as an elephant or even a hippo. One scientist had a theory – before there were people, huge reptiles roamed the earth.STEP into Reading - Step 4 book for Grades 2-4Jim Jensen is a famous dinosaur hunter. He once discovered a dinosaur with a third eye in the middle of its forehead. He also discovered the largest dinosaur ever found. But dinosaurs haven’t lived on the earth for sixty-five million years. How can he hunt dinosaurs if there aren’t any around? In 1822, Mary Ann Mantell, a fossil collector was walking down the road and found a large round stone – but it was a tooth. She showed it to her husband and he went back where she had found it and he dug around and found more teeth and some bones. It was the fossil tooth and bones from a sixty-foot iguana! In 1850 while prospectors were digging for gold in California and Colorado new fossils were uncovered all the time. The western United States became a dinosaur hunter’s dream.Really big bones used to be really big problems for dinosaur hunters. But now, really big bones are lifted out of the ground with powerful winches instead of just trying to use ropes and pulleys. Now they can hunt bigger dinosaurs than ever before. The oldest dinosaur bones have been found in rock 205 million years old. These skeletons are small, but in rock from 190 to 135 million years old, the skeletons of giant dinosaurs are found. There is so much really good information in this book- read this book!

I love these level 5 books as its a good challenge for my son(7), they are small chapter books, but still keep his attention with photos, they give him a good little challenge at times as well, plus he gets to learn a lot of great facts.

I love these series. But most important that my son does. I got 40+ books and he loves to read them (usually it is not that easy to make him read). I got mix of 2-3-4-5 levels for the second grader, second level is too easy, but it creates some fun and he reads them with pleasure. Love it, I would recommend it.

My 5 year old, who is an early reader, loves this book! It's just the right level for him and it is also informative. He received this for his birthday at his request to have a book about dinosaurs that he could learn from. It was the perfect book for him as an early reader. The pictures are colorful and bright. The cover is of good quality, too.

My five year old just loves to read and is reading at a 4th grade level which makes it difficult to find books to interest her because as the older a child gets, the more questionable some of the reading becomes, but this did the trick, there were not words like: stupid, fat, dumb, but it still had a story line.

This is purchased for a 7 year old who reads very well. Want to keep him moving ahead and believe he will like the Dinosaur Hunters book and explanations on how they find them.

My 7 year old loves this book from beginning to end. It's very informative and a great read. Your child will love this book!
