I bought this book to teach my three year old some Foreign vocabulary words. The book has lots of colorful photos, all clearly labeled with English words and a phonetic pronunciation. The phonetic pronunciations are all pretty accurate, but there are some that are slightly off, but not enough to worry that you (or your child) is mispronouncing the word and saying something a native speaker would find embarrassing. If you have never studied the language of the book you are buying, be sure you are familiar with phonetic pronunciations like those you would find in a dictionary, or you might be frustrated trying to figure out exactly how to say the word.I bought the Russian, German, and Italian versions of this book, which is nice, because they all contain the same basic pictures and vocabulary. All are some of my three year old's favorite books.
This book is nice because it has real-life pictures labeled with the German and English words. There are also the pronunciations underneath the word which other books don't always have. I would recommend it for older toddlers because there are about ten or more words per page and younger toddlers probably won't sit there long enough for you to be able to go through them all.
Great book for a child learning German to expand her vocabulary. Like another reviewer said, the phonetic pronunciations are there. Unfortunately, that does not help my 9 year old. It would be nice if this company had a website that worked in conjunction where the kids could press on each picture and hear the sound. But the book services it's function very well and my daughter loves it.
Very impressed with this book! The author and illustrator did an excellent job in creating this children's book!!Highly recommended for any youngster living with someone that speaks German or just wants to learn the basic words.
I found this elementary book of German Words just perfect for beginners learning to speak German! I plan to use it in my beginning class of high school German starting this fall. I also plan using is to teach German to my grandchildren.
I'm a teacher and bought this for my class of preschoolers who I teach German too. I was hoping for something a little different. But, it has different pages, like "family" and "house" with the objects/people labeled. Not a bad book, though.
This was a good addition to our German language "growing Library". Nice to have for reference material. Good for beginners.
Very straight forward and simple words for a young child to understand. I enjoy this little book series and will purchase more.
