Bought this for my son who loves puzzles and all sorts of mind benders. There isn't anything fancy about this little calendar, other than the fact that he really enjoyed working out the puzzles. He might have preferred them in a book format since he "cheated" and flipped through the calendar solving the puzzles instead of doing them "one a day" as the calendar was designed... But I can't fault the product for that :)
Every year my husband ask me to get this for Christmas. It's very fun to solve the puzzles.
It is all loose pegs in a plastic sleeve. Very cool. No messy tears.
We've ordered this calendar for the last two years and find it disappointing and will not order it again. Some of the puzzles are enjoyable but not enough to justify the cost. The weekend puzzles decoding a quote are fun and there is a minesweeper-like game that can be challenging at times. However, too many of the puzzles are simple visual exercises more suitable for children. It's not that I don't like visual challenges, I do actually, but these are far too trivial. They need to be some spatial reasoning puzzles instead of find the matching umbrellas. Overall, there is also too much repetition of puzzle types and not enough variety. The box of loose pages is also annoying because if you're not careful the pages will all fall out. The adhesive, tear off type is preferable.
Lots of fun and stimulating, too!
I gave this this calendar as a Christmas gift to my husband for his desk at work. He really enjoys it and every day all his coworkers try to solve the mind Bender.
