Oops! By the second week of June, the puzzles were no longer in sync with the days of the week. The Saturday calendar puzzle was a Monday crossword from the past, the Monday was a Tuesday, etc. Not a big deal, but unexpected. When I can get through a puzzle supposedly from a former Saturday Times in less than ten minutes (instead of the usual hour or so), there's definitely something off. Do better in 2016, Editors!
The best thing I can say is that it is the NYT crosswords. I have bought this calendar several years running, and they are the best. As anyone knows who has done them they start out easy on Monday and are killers by the weekend. My only complaint is that by Friday and Saturday editor Will Shortz lets loose the crazies whose clues and definitions are unfair to my average brain, but I always go back for more. (-8
As mentioned by at least one other reviewer, the day of the week does not necessarily match the difficulty of the puzzle. I finally thought to check one Monday when the puzzle (which should have been a breeze) was unbelievably tricky--strange for a Monday puzzle and a discouragement that one doesn't need on a Monday morning! (It was originally a Saturday/Sunday puzzle.) In contrast, I deluded myself that I could be Mensa material when I did well on a Saturday/Sunday puzzle--which turned out to actually be a Wednesday puzzle when originally published. It would be great if the editors would correct this for next year's desk calendar.
Love the NYT Crossword Puzzles! I like the variety -- simple on Monday and increasing in difficulty -- the Saturday-Sunday ones are bears!Love the convenience; I always have some handy for waiting in a restaurant when the conversation is lagging.
Have bought this calendar for a friend of mine for years. He loves it. For people interested in crossword puzzles it's great.
I purchase this every year for one of my husband's Christmas presents. He enjoys working the puzzles and it is handy to have so many all together.
What I wanted and arrived on time. No complaints here.
