I received a Mensa 365 Brain Puzzlers Page-A-Day calendar as a gift several years ago and enjoyed it so much that I treat myself to a new one every year. The puzzles vary from word to math to logic varieties and all sorts of others. I am eager to face the challenge of a new puzzle every day. Please note that each weekday has its own page and puzzle, but Saturday and Sunday share the same page with two puzzles on that page.
I enjoy this calendar and discussing it with my son. It's true that the "puzzlers" are repetitive and tend toward the easier side but that keeps it fun. They do this to engage a larger number of readers and maintain the ability to do them in a shorter period of time. If you're looking for more varied or challenging Mensa puzzles, buy their puzzle-per-day BOOK. They're more difficult to solve and they generally take longer.
I think this is a great way to exercise your brain. Many of these I can do - and many I can't. It strikes a good balance for me - an excellent alternative to a crossword puzzle. I just don't have that 'knack' for those so this puzzle helps me compensate. :),
I wanted something to work my brain a bit I find I can do most of these although to do take a little work occasionally. Some are really simple and take no work at all and a few are really hard and very challenging.
Well I don't love it but my hubby does. I buy him one almost every year at Christmas but unfortunately couldn't find one this year for 2015 - so guess they are a good seller. I have done some of the puzzles with him and they are fun and definitely challenging.
This is the one calendar I put on my wish list every Christmas, and I will buy it for myself if nobody else does! I keep it on my desk at work and start off each day with a new puzzle and get my brain geared up for the day. They're the perfect puzzles for that, as they're usually pretty short and solvable in 5 minutes or less.I had tried this calendar before about 6 or 8 years ago, and was disappointed because it seemed like there were only 4 or 5 types of puzzles that were cycled over and over throughout the year. Then I heard Mark Danna and Fraser Simpson speak at the 2009 Mensa convention about creating puzzles in general, and about how they were taking over this calendar and were committed to creating a wider variety of interesting puzzles. I decided to give it a try again, and it's definitely a great improvement! They create lots of different types of word puzzles, math puzzles, logic puzzles, and more - including some types I've never seen done anywhere else in puzzle or game magazines.
These Mensa brain teasers are a great way to keep your mind sharp. There are a variety of puzzles. You may find some easy; others challenging. But there are enough to give your cerebral muscles the work out they need. If you have ever taken a Mensa test, you will see that these puzzles are similar to the question types that are common.
I like brain teasers, they're much like word problems without the stress-inducing mania.Some of the problems are poorly-worded or are incomplete. It's got to be tough to come up with wide varieties though. I enjoy it well enough.
