After being told by my six year old that he doesn't like zombies, my reluctant little reader is loving this book. It is imaginative and fun and appeals to a first grader's sense of humor. My one concern is that I spend a lot of time trying to teach my child not to engage in name-calling and this book has a lot of it, starting with "MORON" that is littered all over the story. I don't think it adds to the story that much. I've chosen to take this as a teachable moment, but parents should be aware that it exists.

If you want to see the word "moron" on every page of a book, then buy it. What a disappointment as recommended this book! You absolutely MUST keep in mind the age of your child before buying this book. Young children reading above grade level should not be reading this book. Many of the comments that we do not permit from our children are on every page of this book. "Shut up" being one of the many. If it takes this kind of writing in order to engage our kids, then we are in real trouble. If you have a boy who absolutely hates normal books to the point where you are considering this ridiculous book, I would recommend going the graphic novel direction before wasting your money.

This was a gift for my 7 year-old grandson. As he has a 5 year-old brother, and his two best friends also have little brothers, he readily relates to the two main characters and is enjoying the story immensely--as is his little brother. The best thing about this story is that--without any adult prompting--my grandson has read some of it to his little brother, both of them giggling the whole time. Which brings me to the worst thing about this story, and that is the name-calling, and the antagonistic relationship between the brothers--which is precisely what my grandsons find so appealing. So, while it's great to find something that these two little warriors can enjoy together, it's a bit distressing that what they are enjoying is the somewhat clandestine nature of the book, specifically the name-calling they are not allowed to do, some words they are not allowed to say, and the forbidden tormenting of siblings.

I thought this looked really funny when I read the summary. I have a seven year old and a five year old. It was too boring for my older son but my 5 year old wanted to hear the story. It's fully of phrases like, "I'm going to kill you" and "I'll beat you up" and some real borderline situations. It could have been funny, but it's not well written enough for that. I'm not overyly sensitive so it takes a lot for me to feel duped by a kid's book. But this is not for younger kids. It's also, in my opinion pretty boring.

I must admit that I didn't like it one bit. The prose were stilted, the phrasing was erratic and the writing was overall difficult to read out loud. I've read Dr. Sues books to my boys that are easier to read out loud.Despite these failings, my boys thought it was funny and were thoroughly entertained.I'm done with zombie fish.

The book is funny, but a bit advanced for my kindergarteners. I think it would be more appropriate for 3rd-4th graders, especially since I have to edit out some words & explain the story line to my class. But some of them are able to follow it fairly well, so it may depend on the individual child.

I loved reading this book to my sons. It was clever, well written and gave us great talking points about how siblings get along. I will say it did give my seven year old nightmares. But i really think that's him and who he is. Most seven year olds would probably be fine

My 9 year old son REALLY enjoyed this book, so much so that when he saw that there was a sequel, ("Seaquel") he put it on his birthday list. Highly recommended.
