Like many other Karen Katz flap books, this book features a baby looking for something, in this case her puppy. She goes around the house and yard asking is my puppy under the shower curtain? is my puppy in the garbage can?, etc, and then your child can lift the flap on the page to find out. All of the objects found in this book are animals, including a kitty, turtle, fish and squirrel. Like the other Karen Katz flap books, the flaps are not full page, but are shaped like the item illustrated on them (shower curtain, garbage can, etc). This is nice, but makes them not quite as sturdy as some other flap books, since baby doesn't always know which direction they open (some from side, some from top, etc) and the flaps can get ripped off sometimes. Not a big deal for us since they go back on fairly nicely with tape. This book is good for babies who like animals, and my daughter does like it, but I think her favorites are the ones where she can point to body parts (Where is Baby's Belly Button? is one of them) and also the Where is Baby's pumpkin?, which we read year round since it has both flaps and a fuzzy texture on most pages. But pretty much all of the Karen Katz books are a hit with toddlers and this is no exception.
Not sure what it is about these books, but our little 7-month-old loves them! She reaches out for the flaps (likes to put them in her mouth, but she does that with everything.) When I pick up other books, she reaches for these. Her fvorite still seems to be "Where is Baby's Beach Ball," but she likes all of the lift-the-flap Baby books.
We love Karen Katz' lift a flap book. This is a fun story with a few different easily recognizable animals in it and my 18 month old daughter loves reading these stories. She is just about out growing this style of book now, so I would say perfect for infant to 18 months/2 years.
Karen Katz has great books, my son has several and gravitates towards them when we read. The lift the flap books are some of his favs. We like to point out the other animals on each page and it keeps him entertained.
this book is cute, and my toddler looooves dog, but this hasn't received the attention she gives to other books, like "where is baby's belly button?" my daughter is 1 and loooves lift the flap books, but this one is not her favorite.
My son loves these flap books! The only issue I have with this one is that the blanket covering the puppy is so large that the piece is easily ripped. The smaller flaps seems to be a bit more durable. This and the Belly Button one are his favorites.
My son loves these lift-the-flap books! I decided to buy him a few for his birthday and he still enjoys reading them every day. This particular title wasn't his favorite but the books are great and I would recommend them to any one buying books for a child under 4. I'd recommend reading these books to a child even before age 1 because it encourages them to flip the pages and interact with the story.The condition was perfect! I'm very pleased with this book.
I was very sad about the destruction of this book by my 10 month old. He really liked it when I first got it, we'd read and look for the puppy...then he learned that he can not only lift the flaps, but RIP the flaps. Rip them off. Alas, he ripped them all.
