My son loves his NatGeo books. He is constantly reciting fun facts and incorporating them into his homework. I love hearing him use his knowledge from these books in daily life either directly or through comparisons and logic.
I bought this for my 8-year-old as a gift. He requested this specifically as he had a previous version and really loved it. He is very intelligent and is really into science and learning. I think this would be interesting for any kid who is into fun facts and learning.
A GIFT FOR MY 10 YEAR OLD GRANDAUGHTER AND SHE LOVED THE FUN TRUELY WEIRD THINGS FROM OUR WORLD. KIDS REMEMBER THIS TYPE OF THING AND THEY SEEM SO SMART TELLING THEIR FRIENDS, WHO DON'T BELIEVE IT SO SHE SHOWS THEM THE BOOK AND CAN NOT GET THE BOOK BACK.
Weird But True! 6: This is pretty cool. I'm in my fifties and I almost wanted to keep it instead of give it to my 11-year-old niece! It has a lot of fun, interesting, and sometimes gross trivia that should keep any young one entertained on rainy days--for a while, anyway...
As an adult I don't get this book - bunch of colorful pics and some weird facts, but its the rage. Kids took this to school and I heard about how all the other kids were so excited a NEW weird but true was out. Apparently there is now a waiting list at school to read the book! So, all in all its a winner.
I got this for my nephew who is 7 years old. He loves it! I find it makes him even more curious about the world around him. What I do to ensure that he really benefits from it is that we go online and get more details about some of interesting facts. It's a great gift and I will probably be buying more for my other little nephews and nieces!
How often do you get asked, why . . . ? what. . . ? My kids love to read out loud, good practice and the book also is a catalyst for other conversations.
My son loves this book. It has a ton of cool facts and is very reasonably priced.
