SPOILER ALERT: I was disappointed by how much background knowledge would be required to solve many of these problems. For example, to solve various problems one needs to know: that you'll be electrocuted if you touch power lines with a metal pole, that "to bail" means to remove water from a ship, you need more than 50% of a paper bill to spend it, and that 'gut' is used to string tennis rackets. Thirteen of the 62 mysteries involve sports/music/game scenarios that my children would not be familiar with.

I like the fact that it is critical thinking. But it is a little too difficult for elementary school children. Would be better for Jr. High or High school age. Or children who know the double meanings for every word in our language. I read them to the kids and most of the time have to cheat by looking at the answer in the back to lead the conversation, and some of the "Mysteries" are a bit of a stretch with their answers. Wish it was a little better.

These are just goofy riddles, not the logic exercises I was expecting.

great book!
