This small, approximately 4x6 book offers 51 pages of fun history for a broad range of young kids. There are a total of 2-4 sentences on each page and includes interesting historical facts and also instructions of what to do per page. So, either an adult or older child will have to be handy to read some of the instructions or the child will need to read fairly well to be able to do it on their own for very long. Some are connect the dot, get through a maze or find the 5 differences in a picture sort of thing so 1st and 2nd graders will have some lots of activities too, but they might need someone to read the instructions depending on the child's reading level. The answers are all found in the back pages of the book. To be able to complete the entire book you will need at least a an 8-16 count of crayons. There are only 3 pictures that say "color this."... Oh boy.. was I shocked! The book is so little and then... after reading it... I like that it is little. Nice book for entertaining kids in the back seat of a car.
I got this book for my 9-year-old daughter. She enjoys word search books and is very interested in American History. She'll look at a word list, choose a word, and start spouting related information. It leads to some very interesting conversations! She enjoys the word searches in this book because they are a little more difficult than most puzzle books made for her age group, and she enjoys the challenge.
Love these little books -- they keep my 8 and 9-year-olds entertained at church.
