It is essentially a book with about 22 or so TRUE or FALSE questions (or more technically, statements). The pictures are great. It's a wonderful "stepping off" book, if the parent has the ability to provide further expository information. Each answer seems to be answered with a follow-up description of varying descriptiveness and accuracy. One question, however is inconsistent at face value and is even contradicted by the verbiage of the answer itself. There is a question : All planets are made of rock and metal. The simple answer is FALSE. The Jovial or non-terrestrial planets are not rock nor metal. They are gas and liquid with more solid cores. The book even says "The four planets closest to the sun... are made of rock and metal. But the four planets farthest ... are different."The right answer would be FALSE for that one. If you mean "elemental" metal, then rock doesn't apply, as it's not a truly chemical term with accurate specificity.

I like this book, but I was very disappointed that the author confuses mass and weight, and starts kids off with wrong ideas. Your mass in kg does not change as you move from planet to planet.

I ordered this book to use with my second graders. We have been studying the planets and this book added some facts for their research project.

I got my son a telescope and wanted to be able to help him identify the objects in space. It is very informative,
