I appreciate this tool to teach myself and my children about Black History and important African American contributors to American history. This information is often overlooked in the elementary school systems.
We take it on trips with us and ask the kids questions in an environment where they can't leave the room. However, it should say for teen agers because there is no way a nine year old would know those answers
My high school student's frequently flipped through this when they had free time after tests or when they did not have a book for the daily reading period. Of the many books/magazines/resources I had available this was one of the most popular choices for students to flip through and read. I eventually gave it to my nieces/nephews. It's not an in-depth study, but a nice little packet of anecdotal facts. I'll let the frequency of how often it came off the shelf for study in my high school class account for the 5 rating.
I gave this to my son who is now studying Black History and he said it was very helpful.
A 11th grade high school english teacher recommend Brain Quest for my 10 year old son. My son loves playing triva questions with the family, me and my husband have learned a great deal as well.
