We started with the Roadwork book, which has been in my son's library since he was a year old. For his third birthday, I added Construction and Demolition to our selection, and they've gone down a treat. If you have a kid who is interested in how things are made (or demolished) I highly recommend these books. They have deceptively simple artwork which manages to be surprisingly detailed. The swingy rhymes and sound-effects make for easy reading-aloud fare. We are definitely fans in this household.

Cute. But I was looking for more of a story. This book builds a library but there is no climax or anything to get the child excited. We read the book once and he's back to the old ones where the truck gets stuck in the mud

The rhymes were just not as clever or well-written as the previous two books. We love Demolition and Road Work...but this one fell a little bit flat. I bumped it up to 3 starts because the final construction project is a library, which is a great endorsement for books and reading. I think the author is capable of better, but this book felt like it was rushed.

For all the rave reviews that this book got, it's an incredibly lame book. I'll give credit where the credit is due. The illustrations are top-notch, but it reads awful. The writing is terrible and nothing in the book rhymes. I know that it's just a kids book, but come'on the writing is terrible! Kids are not stupid. It was as if the author was in a big rush to finish the book and didn't make any effort on the actual writing. I am deeply skeptical of some of these reviews. Any reviewer who claims that the book is a terrific read is either a friend of the author or is brain-dead. As a parent, I've read many, many kids books and this by far is one of the worst. If you don't believe me, go to the library and have a look for yourself before wasting your money on it.So far, I've purchased 3 kids 'construction' books on and 2 of them have turned out to be epic failures despite their high ratings. It's like these authors know that parents will buy these types of books because their children love construction vehicles and they don't put any real effort into it.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sally Sutton's books. Roadwork, Construction, Demolition...they are all books that should be a part of your little one's library. It opens up some great conversation about the process of building and what the machines and workers do. Our son chooses to read these books every night, over and over again!

Let's face it, some kids books can put you to sleep before you finish them. This book is such fun to read! Well written, keeps the attention of both our 3 and 6 year old. We also own Demolition and Road Work by the same author. Excellent!

We love this book! I will agree that it's not as good as the other two (Demolition and Roadwork), but we love it just the same. The rhymes are fun for my two year old and he requests them over and over!

Bought this book for my 3 year old son because he really loves "Roadwork". This book is by the same author and is pretty similar. My son loves it. Lots of onomatopoeia. The book was larger than I expected and was hard-back. I was suprised I got it for such a good price. Hardback books are typically pretty expensive.
