I like the rhyme, which reminds me a tad of Dr. Seussâ. I like Ms. Virgánâs illustrations. They have a fun, cartoon feeling about them. This story is perfect for bedtimes, and young kids starting to read.*NOTE* I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Our four grandchildren (ages 2-9) came to visit for two weeks. "A Pig in a Wig" provided calm time before nap time and bedtime. By the end of their vacation all four children had the book memorized. We had lengthy discussions around the dinner table about pig and her animal friends. This book is a delight!
A new cumulative story classic a la Always Room for One More. A fun read. One of those picture books that makes them look so easy to write--sort of like watching an olympic figure skater do an axel.
My 5 year old loves this book! He is so proud of himself that he is able to read it all by himself. The rhyming words make it easy to pick up and the illustrations are cute and appealing to him. One of the best 'learning to read' books I've bought. (And we have many because I have 4 kids)
My 4 year old son loves this book! I highly recommend it.
My daughter who is 4.5 years old just loves this book. She has memorized it in it entirety and she really doesn't read yet without memorizing. It is awesome to see her have so much fun memorizing the words it makes this such a fun first book to learn to read with. We can't wait to read the next in the series soon!
I like stories with more plot. This one didn't quite grab me. There's a pig in a wig in a boat in a moat. Other animals get added to the boat. The pig needs a larger boat by the end of the story.
