My 3 month old loves pandas, so naturally this was a fun purchase. She looks at the finger puppet but isn't sure what to make of it. The text in the story is cute and rhyming. It also teaches about what a few animals eat, besides panda. My only criticism is that I think the illustrations are ugly. I am hoping she will get more into the book as she gets older.
The story was not interesting or anything but we bought it for the puppet and used it on the airplane and in the car. It served its purpose. I have an 18 month old and 4 year old and they both liked the puppet.
This finger puppet book tells the story of a hungry little panda. After being offered several types of food by different animals, the little panda explains that pandas only eat bamboo. This is an excellent first book for babies and young toddlers. The story is simple enough for them to understand and the finger puppet, if well used, holds their attention. This book is a useful tool to help young ones understand the concept of 'No'. In my experience, this book is mostly enjoyed by those in the 4- to 18-month age group. Despite its simplicity the book ends up teaching an interesting fact: pandas eat mostly bamboo.
My infant son loves these finger puppet books. They work for short attention spans, as story time usually only lasts five minutes. Great for building stamina during your efforts to set a bedtime routine. The puppet definitely keeps our little guy's attention, and he's quite the busy pal-- even if he's tired! We have Fish , Giraffe , and Little Cat too, but enjoyed Panda, as red, white, and black are the colors best viewed by infants.
I picked this up at an airport shop as the obvious choice of 3 other books. That was 8 months ago and my now 18 mo old daughter still loves it! Whenever she needs some cheering up, we quote the book: "Little Panda's hungry, but what do pandas eat?!" or "Green and crunchy long and leafy pandas eat bamboo!" My daughter smirks and looks at my Wife and I. Her tune changes in a flash - great book, great rhythm, fun animals, and definitely a favorite :) It also makes for a great song to sing to your child in the car :)
My baby absolutely loves this book. Ever since we got it for her (around 3 months), this one has been a hit. She's now 11 months and still loves it! Hubby and I have read this book to her so many times, that we go around quoting it - or modifying the words to fit different circumstances :-p.
Don't waste your money. It's a cool idea having a puppet in the book, but didn't work out so well. It's a 2 second story, soon use for us.
