Thank you Lucy Cooke for this wonderful book that I can show my friends who think my love of sloths is a bit kooky. They are precious, and your words and photos demonstrate that perfectly. And thanks to Judy Arroyo and the Aviatos del Caribe Sloth Sanctuary for all you do to help these magnificent creatues.
My six year old daughter loves this book of sloth. The pictures of the sloths are beautiful, adorable and amazing. The books has so many facts that I didn't even know about these amazing creatures. The book is full of pictures of sloths at a sanctuary in Costa Rica. The books talks about the injured or orphaned sloths. My daughter favorite picture is the sloth with teddy bear. My heart went out for the sloths who were wrapped up with bandage. I recommend you do get this book because part of the proceed goes to the sloths and the pictures in the book are breath taken.
You cannot say, "no" to that sloth's cute face...This book is aimed at children, but as a full grown adult and sloth-aholic, I find the pictures and the story of the Sloth Sanctuary in Costa Rica charming and irresistibly cute! The pictures are so cute and high quality. It's a joy just looking at the book jacket and inside it's even better!This is a quality book about sloths. Do not miss it!To keep the sloth party going, I would also recommend Hanging With The Sloth as a cute informational DVD about sloths.
I was hoping this wasn't a book with one small pic here and there. I was pleasantly surprised to see huge, big, medium & small pics throughout the entire book with enough reading and info in it to keep it from just being pictures! I am a fan of their facebook page and was happy to support the Sloth's by buying this book =) WIN, WIN! If you love sloth's or know someone who does this is definitely a great book to buy!!
In the zoo, we don't see too much of the sloth since they just kind of hang around. This book really introduces what I consider to be the most intelligent sloth, the very sedentary sloth. My grand kids are intrigued. The pictures are lovely. The author is able to make cogent comments on the role that they play in the ecosystem. For the potty minded toddler, bathroom habits are tactfully explained. No spoiler here, you have to read the book to find out.
I saw Lucy Cooke on the Today Show, and immediately ordered this book. Our pet assisted therapy teams, at New England Pet Partners, works with children's reading programs. It is motivational, and dogs offer incentives. Although Librarians, Teachers choose books for the children, when they read a book, they can pick.
Cute overload, and some surprising information about sloths - their bathroom habits are fascinating. I read this book immediately upon leaving the library, and in fact, I could not help but read it AGAIN, but this time aloud to my driver (never read & drive kids) who learned more about sloths than he ever knew he wanted to know.I really wish I had this book in my school library because it would NEVER be on the shelf; this I can say with confidence.
I bought this for my daughter and she loves it. Sloths are so cute and she still looks at it from time to time and share with her friends. she is 3.
