Nothing's better than a true story; especially one with ducklings in danger on a journey to a happy ending. The artwork is spectacular and the writing is above average. A great gift book -- buy it for your grandchild, child or the children's collection of your local library. You will want to read this more than once!
I first read this book to my daughter when she was 2 1/2. It quickly became her favorite and stayed there for many months. The story is charming and there are little details in the illustrations that capture her attention. It is perfect for being read over and over.I will be interested to see how much she likes the book once she starts being able to read it herself.
My grandson loved this book, which is a true story about baby ducks that were saved by people who cared about wildlife. He wanted to hear it several times, and his older brother, who is 7, was interested, too. The illustrations are wonderful. It's reminiscent of Make Way For Ducklings, which my own children loved growing up.
My 3 year old loves this book. I can't read it fast enough or often enough. She walks around the house talking about Tippin, Bippin & Dippin...I recommend this book.
I checked this book out of our library for my 3 year old daughter. While she loves the story, it is my 13 month old that is completely enthralled. She asks for, "Duck?" every morning and reaches for the book until we read it. She will sit still for me to read it two times through in a row, multiple times a day--impressive for someone that little! I'll be purchasing a copy for our home library. Wonderful, engaging story with gorgeous illustrations.
In a new twist upon an old favorite, follow the adventure of Mama Duck and her ducklings. When the five ducklings fall into a storm drain, the fireman and a crowd of people come to the rescue, leaving the ducks to return to their pretty pond. Children, ages 3-6, will delight in this duckling tale.
This is a truly beautiful book with wonderful illustrations. I love the fact that it is based on a real event. We purchased enough copies of this book for all of the students we will be doing a ready set learn program with and will be bringing in ducklings to enhance the lesson
Lacked the lasting interest for my 5 yr old. He enjoyed the names of the ducklings and on our walks checks out storm drains to imagine ducklings being caught in them, but doesn't really ask to read the book very often.
