The quality of the Little Bunny story is not as good as the Little Lamb and Little Duck books, which include pages with action like looking at the sky that is much more fun to make the finger puppet perform. Many of the pages don't have Little Bunny doing anything. Also, the pages are difficult to turn because the protruding ears get caught in the holes. This book is still fun for the price but not the best of the series.
The photo of the book cover shown here is misleading. When you put your finger in the puppet like you do in all the other series books, the bunny faces down and you can't see it's face. The only way for your little one to see the bunny's face is for you to point your finger up constantly. Not only is that uncomfortabel for the reader, but it restricts your ability to make the bunny interact with anything on the page. Story-wise, there's not much for the bunny to interact with either.My 18-mo-old daughter LOVES Little Lamb, but hates this one.
I bought this because my little one (7 months) really liked the monkey finger puppet book, and this one was slightly discounted. Well, other reviewers were right - the bunny faces down and is difficult to manipulate and the story seems to be missing something. The story is about a game of hide & seek and Mama bunny finds little bunny and praises how smart he is when he hasn't even found a hiding spot. The bunny is still cute and holds my little one's attention, so... 3 stars.
As another reviewer noted - the design or sewing of the bunny puppet is done badly. Your finger ends up pushing the forehead forward without being able to see the eyes, nose or mouth. Frankly it's creepy.The story was also lacking. My kids love these books, especially the one about a little horse. This one didn't even have a storyline to keep the children's attention. Yes this book is inexpensive, but when kids are excited to have a new book read to them and it fails epically, it's a waste of time and money.
I have a few of these finger puppet books for the various animals (polar bear, giraffe, and bunny), and this is my least favorite. The story is kind of lame- he's trying to find a hiding place while playing hide-and-seek with his mom, but (unless I'm missing something!) never actually finds one before the end of the book. It's also hard to see his face correctly because it points downward. My 1-yr-old doesn't seem to mind these things though. Her only minor frustration comes from fitting the ears through the holes on the pages.
This is the third 'puppet' book I've ordered for my grandbabies and they LOVE them! The rhymes are cute and sweet and the wiggling characters enthrall the babies. I will continue to order these for special occasions until I own the entire series!
Great book! I bought this for my 12 month old for Easter. Perfect size for little hands, she loves to play with the bunny ears and put her own fingers in the puppet. We are still reading it months later. Recommend! I am going to look for the others in the series (as mentioned on the back cover).
