Story is fine but, what was annoying to me was the numerous pages of self promotion by the Author. In the description of the book it stated there were 34 pages in the book which, there are. In actuality there are 20 pages to the story, 10 worded, 10 illustrated and 14 pages advertising the authors other works. All 3 paperback are similarly done. The description should list the actual pages of the story itself.
An adorable book !!!!! My five year old enjoys it very much . We read it together and she enjoys reading the parts of the monkey . Absolutely an enjoyable book to read over and over and not get tired of .
The story was good and cute, but the pictures seemed to be out of place with the story and it advertised Prime readers could download for free, but was not the case. I decided to buy the book anyhow for my grandson.
I read this to my 6 year old and really enjoyed the message. I have a 100% boy so h jumps off just about anything before thinking of consequences. This book helped me with illustrating why he needs to think before he acts!
Author Efrat Haddi, with excellent support from illustrator Abira Das, has written a fine little story about the value of patience, and the clever way she tells the story makes it remarkable and memorable for children. Efrat Haddi obviously understands children (she is a mother of 3!) as well as the techniques of teaching children concepts through stories. This is a very well written and illustrated book that should become a favorite bedtime story - with a lesson. In the jungle we meet a monkey named Tanya and her son Troy - a mischievous monkey who despite his adventures he never was hurt - giving him the moniker of `lucky monkey'. Even when he falls out of a banana tree and the bananas all fall on his head, he is lucky and doesn't get hurt. He has a misadventure with a beehive but luckily he doesn't get stung. Though his mother wars him to think before he acts, Troy knows he is a lucky monkey so he pays no heed. His interactions with zebras, a sneezing hippopotamus, and crocodiles fail to break his luck. But his luck changes - a sheath of bananas falls on his head and hurts him, he re-visits the beehive and this time in reaching for honey he is stung, the hippo's sneeze infects him and he gets sick. In his sick bed his mother Tanya reiterates, `Sometimes we are luck and sometimes we are not. Therefore we should always be carful and think before we act and not rely only on luck.' Lesson learned! As with all of Efrat Haddi's books the beautifully illustrated stories care a fine lesson - and she delivers it in such an entertaining way that children will pay attention. My girls seriously love the Children's books: The Lucky Monkey. It's soooooo funny. Seriously hilarious. They love that little monkey and all of his antics. They love that he finally learns his lesson. He is a clever monkey that was just skating through life by being lucky. But he eventually learned his lesson. My girls loves repeating the "lucky monkey" part of the e-book. It's a great little story with a good lesson in it. The best part, to me, about this story is that it is an e-book. So when we went out of town and went camping, we had this story with us to read to the girls at bedtime and naptime or whenever they wanted a story. I didn't realize how convenient it is to have e-books for the girls until I didn't have regular hand held books to use. Your kids will love this story as much as mine do.
(Quoting the little guy) I liked this book because he does the wrong things and he's lucky, but then if he does it again, he isn't so lucky.I liked it because he enjoyed reading the book, and it gave him additional confidence in reading. I'll be getting more of these books, I'm sure.
I love the message this story tells, the writing is great for my grandkids to understand, read along with and relate to. The illustrations are very nice as well as they follow the story and are nicely colored and attractive. The story of the Lucky Monkey is about a monkey who thinks nothing will happen to him no matter what he does as the story goes on the monkey finds out that he has to start thinking before he does something because luck isn't always going to be there to save you.I have a grandson who thinks he can do anything and he won't get hurt even though he is told he will get hurt if he doesn't stop he really didn't pay much attention until he wouldnt stay of the ladder and he slipped and fell off. When I read the story to him a couple days later he said “ MEMEME I am just like lucky but I needed to listen huh” so he got the message and it did make him think and I have noticed he is paying more attention and stopping when we say no.I do recommend this book and I did receive a complimentary kindle edition and I am providing my honest unbiased opinion.
