We have been patiently awaiting the release date of this book for months, and it most certainly did not disappoint! Immediately, my 7 year old began reading it to her younger brother! We love how interactive it is! They tried their very best to help rid Little Penguin of his pesky hiccups! They read it several times, each time interacting more and more with the story! "1-2-3 BOO!" After all, Little Penguin can't get over his hiccups without a little help from the audience! This is a beautifully illustrated and charming story that children will beg to have read again and again! It is fantastic, truly the best children's book that we have come across in a very long time! It is dearly loved!

My 5 and 2 year old kids love this story. Little penguin has a problem--and the kids relate, because everyone in our family has had the exact same problem. What's better is not just permission, but a request to be as loud and scary as possible on the count of three. I had to perfect my fake hiccup and get my page-turning timing right, but once I did, the kids laughed hysterically at the persistent problem and the surprise awaiting the little bird. A delightful debut by author and illustrator Tadgh Bentley.

Little Penguin Gets the Hiccups is a gift to any story time leader looking for fun, interactive books for preschoolers. With a text that flows along in a wonderfully conversational tone, we get to meet a young penguin with impeccable comedic timing. Let's face it, hiccups are always funny, and when you throw in a little guy that loves chili and tacos, well you just can't go wrong. A spirited reading will result in plenty of laughs and a fully engaged audience! The artist's illustrations are totally charming, with this big eyed little penguin carrying the story with ease. He is full of personality, and with some truly inspired design choices, the artist manages to convey just the right amount of energy for this wonderfully funny tale. Little Penguin Gets the Hiccups is a MUST have for story time and an enthusiastic recommend for any preschooler.

I don't know what it is about the rise in popularity in picture books about penguins, but lately I feel like there's been a good string of them (see Happy Birdday, Tacky! (Tacky the Penguin) and Archie the Daredevil Penguin). Little Penguin does not disappoint! The story is told in a very interactive way, with Little Penguin "breaking the fourth wall" and chatting with the reader. Poor thing has the hiccups and needs you to help him get rid of them (who knew chili caused penguins to get the hiccups?). After trying all the tricks in the book, Little Penguin decides the next thing to try is to have you help him scare the hiccups away. Little does he know he is in for quite the surprise. This is a lovely, interactive book and children will love taking part in the story. Oh, and I hope that whoever is responsible for reading this book out loud has a good "fake hiccup" because you will be doing a lot of them throughout this one :)

Great read for a group setting. I read it aloud at my children's elementary and preschool respectively. Hands down super fun! Both times I could tell the kids enjoyed it and I did too! The elementary students really got involved. Very interactive - who is Franklin? What does it mean to go cuckoo? What do you do when you have the hiccups? Working up a good boo of course! The younger audience also enjoyed working on the scare :).

This book is so good. It's a great book to read to one kid or a group. Its so much fun! I love kids books that allow for children to interact with the reader. It's such a cute book! We actually donated a copy to her classroom because we love it so much!

This is a wonderful story that has fabulous illustrations. What I enjoy most is being able to interact with the audience when reading it to a group or to an individual.

I have given this book to a number of little ones who have all giggled with glee upon receipt of this delightful book! They love the humor, the illustrations and the topic, which is silly and fun. They also love searching for the hidden whales in the illustrations. The book is also a nice size, colorful and not babyish. I will look forward to the next book by this author!
