WARNING: SPOILERS!The emotional roller coaster that is Biscuit Goes to School will leave you craving more. Across twenty-four glorious pages, Biscuit goes from loved pet to a dog about to wreak havoc on an entire elementary school to the lap companion of a teacher excited to get a break from using his fingernail to write shapes on the board. The tale begins with our protagonist, Biscuit, at home with her owner, Awlie*. Awlie is on the stoop of her house waiting for the bus. When it shows up she leaves her puppy sitting on the stoop, alone and in the elements. While the pup is collared, he is apparently a free roaming puppy with an incredible sense of direction.Biscuit travels through town and eventually arrives at Awlie's school and walks right through the open door. Biscuit walks carefully through school and sniffs out the gym, the library, and the cafeteria. In the cafeteria, Biscuit is busted by Awlie who panics reminding Biscuit, "Dogs don't go to school!" Sigh. Awlie is right. Dog's DON'T go to school. Bad, Biscuit, bad.Awlie, perhaps understanding the gravity of having an unleashed puppy travel through town without any companions, attempts to hide Biscuit as the teacher approaches. She shoves him into her backpack, but Biscuit gets so bored with the teacher's geometry lesson that he jumps from the bag and runs up to the teacher. The teacher looks upon Biscuit as though he is pondering on how best to deal with the nuisance. It is a suspenseful moment--you have to see the picture! Awlie is panicking--she can see it in the teacher's eyes. Biscuit is in big trouble! He might even go to the pound!Phew. The teacher just is one of those people who has permanent angry looking face. He is okay with the canine visitor.
