My son, age 3, received this book a few weeks ago and has insisted that we read it to him every day since. He loves the pictures and he thinks the stories are very funny. Even my older daughters who are 7 and 9 enjoy reading the stories. This book has been a great addition to our kids' library.Update 2015.My son is now 5, and this book is still one of his favorite books. He recites the stories by heart, but insists on me reading this book to him almost every night. The quality of the book is excellent, because despite this much use, it looks like new.
This is a great collection of the Clifford books all in one. The 50-year anniversary information is wonderful and I'm so glad to know more about Norman Bridwell and the history of Clifford. It made a perfect gift.
My 7 year old is all into reading and wanted Clifford books. The library was void of many, so we got this very nice collection. It is a lovely bound book. It would be a fantastic gift for any pre-reader or new reader. She read it with lots of eagerness.
These are the classics stories for Clifford the very first ones written. So this book looks like a vintage book and I loved that! I also enjoyed the fact they have a section to tell about the author in the beginning of this book. If you are looking for the brightly colored new Clifford stories this is not the book. If you want the original stories for your child, this is perfect. All my kids loved this book!
I sent this as a gift to a grand-nephew who was recovering from a surgery. I can't speak for the quality of the book itself as I did not see it, but I can say that the stories inside are wonderful and every child learning to read should be introduced to Clifford and other Norman Bridwell books. I am a retired remedial reading teacher and have got MANY reluctant readers interested in reading using these books.
My daughter usually LOVES Clifford books. She is 19months old. This book is definitely not for the little own. It's a large, thick book with thin pages.. I can't see many kids liking this type of book personally.
I was disappointed in this collection of Clifford stories. I bought them because my son LOVES Clifford right now and we'd been checking every Clifford book out of the library every week. However, this collection does not really do the original books justice.First off, this collection only uses a few muted colors and does NOT have all the colors in the original books. The original books are quite colorful, so this was disappointing and I find my son just doesn't like to look at this much.Second, in an effort which I assume was made to condense the original books into this collection, multiple pages are included on one page. This means they shrunk the images into small half pages and there are more words on the page. It makes it difficult to follow the story and results in a busy design that is tough for little kids to focus on.If I could do it again, I'd buy the individual books that are my son's favorite instead.
I bought this for my niece for Christmas this past year. I love a the stories in the collection. My niece loves Clifford books and enjoys to be read to, she is 2 years old. I thought it was a bit ironic that the day I ordered this book the author pasted away. I have ready many Clifford books to my kids over the years and I'm glad that my niece gets to hear the stories also. I recommend the book for sure!!!!
