I bought this as a sign in book for our son's first birthday party...but it's so small (probably 6x6 inches or so) that there's no way I'll use it that way. That's obviously my fault for not checking the dimensions...not the book's fault, but it was a disappointment nonetheless.There are ten "pages", including the front and back cover. (This is a short book!) The first page has the cute birthday bird with a furry spot cut out on his shirt. Second page has a lift up flap, Third to fourth page has a moveable component...which is hard to move initially, and after you've read the book many times, it moves much more freely. Fifth page has a "sniff" component and shiny metallic "leaves". The sixth page/seventh page has a scrolling feature. Eighth page has again a moveable feature, pull tab style. Last two pages are cute and without any of the shenanigans the other pages feature..which is a little bit of a letdown.It is a very cute birthday baby book though, and has a nice hard cover, good sturdy pages and spine. Has been enjoyed but I will likely put it away so it can be a 'memory item' for him for later on in life. Vivid fun illustrations and overall a fun, nice book.
This is a great birthday book for a little child. We bought it for a one year old and read it to her that day. She listened and since then has enjoyed it again and again. I don't think you can introduce books too early to a little one. Can you not guess that I am a retired librarian? I love Dr. Seuss and have seen several children learn to read with his books. This is one of my favorites.
It's a good book. cute gimmick - NOT WRITTEN BY DR Seuss -the baby quickly has ripped out parts . but what do you expect ? good over all. she really likes it.
cute book for a child's first birthday. I never received my original order. After a wk of not receiving it- it never could be found by UPS or the USPS. did over night me another order. That was nice.
Dr Seuss was an amazing artist. His words are those which I grew up on. I love the stories, so wacky and weird and I saw this and thought it would be the perfect gift for my baby's 1st birthday. It is so cute and fun and the pictures are awesome. It is well written and easy to read. It's great. Loved it.
Cute but very short. The flower page is kinda stinky. And the interactive parts are hard for my toddler to do by herself. I see this getting ripped quickly. I wish it was done as more traditional lift-the-flap.
This story was selected for story time during my one year old's birthday party. The babies and toddlers were engaged in the story. It was interactive but short enough for the little ones to really enjoy. A few of the toddlers asked questions as the story was read. I was so excited to find a book that fit perfectly with our Dr. Seuss theme.
I love Dr. Seuss books. So does my staff. I had this book on my shelf in my office for Dr. Seuss week. There was not a person who came in that did not ask about the book. Everyone loves it and evidently was not aware there was a "Happy Birthday Edition". It's a great book and I'm looking to purchase additional copies.
