Bought this to supplement homeschool curriculum. I like that each page is a review of a specific lesson. With the table of contents, I can quickly look through which lesson we are on (compound/complex sentences for example) and have an extra review sheet to go over. It is very direct. There is not much explanation; it is strictly review. If that is what you are looking for, this is great. If you want a book that teaches concepts, I'd advise choosing something else.
Upon first glance I fell in love with this book. It's everything my grandson needs. Although he is going into the 7th grade in September, it's important that he gets the lessons for 6th grade down thoroughly. Education is of the utmost importance in my home, so anything I can do to fortify my grandson's learning and give him his best chance of success at every grade level and also in life, I take it and this book is a great start.Most children don't realize the importance of good English and grammar skills. Having them can be the difference in getting a good job and a great job, or the difference between getting just a job and embarking upon a stellar career. It's paramount!.com's EXCELLENT feature of looking inside most books prior to buying them was very instrumental in my decision. Although .com has the most EXCELLENT return policy, this method keeps me from having to "take a chance" that something is worthy of my hard earned dollars and time (the one thing we can't get back). So, I bought this book knowing it was exactly what my grandson needed and after I looked through it even further, I'm still quite satisfied.I'd definitely recommend this product to anyone serious about education. It's not only for 6th graders. It can be used for people getting their GED who may need a refresher in English and Grammar, people looking for promotions in their jobs were language skills is a factor, and more.
I home school my three girls. I bought this for my 6th grader. It was too easy. I gave it to my 4th grader. Again, it was too easy. My 3rd grader is now starting the book. If your child is at or above grade level this book will be a waste of money. I have found that Scholastic or Common Core books are better for challenging the children.
The content of this book is simple enough for my child to understand. I am so glad I bought it. At first the cover looked toddler- like bt don't be misled by it cos it is perfect for six graders.
Lessons are simple and easy to understand. My son's only complaint is that it looks like a "baby book."
The book itself isn't really organized. OK as a supplemental class worksheet.
I like the simplicity of this book but the explanations are lacking.
Well done and my child loves working in it.
