I got these as an extra workbook. I am not crazy about the common core and want my kids to know the normal way to do their work. I believe it is hard enough to learn new things why complicate it. These books are great and my kids enjoy doing their home school books!
Awesome all around book to go along with homeschool curriculum or just extra work. It doesn't cover EVERYTHING as far as science, social studies, etc. It covers a little bit of math, english, and reading. It go along with national standards as well. This is a great guide and easy for my children to understand. I homeschool my 8 and 11 year olds and this book is a great help for 1st year homeschoolers. I love the price as well. You can't beat the price for the amount of content! I also like that it has the answers in the back of the book to each page.Great book! I would buy again!
I debated whether or not to buy this or the math for the same grade level, which I buy each year for my kids. I just didn't want to miss out on the math because of the language material. But there's plenty of math so I don't feel anything is missing in that regard and I like how the book is organized - 1st half is all math, and the rest is language. This makes it easier to use, I feel, then if it was mixed together. This is 2 books in one. My kids actually enjoy working in these books all summer and I love it to prep them for the upcoming year and to prevent erosion of skills learned in the prior year.
It's a great book and it gives you a clear understanding about what a second grader should know and learn. You may need extra worksheets for the lessons beside the book.
Another excellent product from Spectrum. Explains the basics learned in prior grade editions and elsewhere. Definitely not a stand-alone curriculum but handy for busy work and concept reinforcement.
I always enjoy the Spectrum series. As a homeschool parent, I am often looking for helpful workbooks to use for days I just don't have the energy to do it all. These provide additional challenges for my children (ages 2-13 yrs). We enjoy different learning methods, but busy work can get boring. These books provide interesting questions and challenges that we don't find with other labels. We don't follow a curriculum, so these give me some helpful insight into what each child has really grasped (and what we need to work a little more on).
I bought this for my son to work on over the summer. This was a really good book. I liked it better than other books I'd seen. Good layout.
Excellent book for the age indicated. This book is a good teaching/learning tool.
