Love the DK workbooks, I am a teacher and currently home schooling a 2nd grader, I use the DK workbooks often, they always cover more in any topic on one worksheet than any other workbook I've purchased.
I am so glad I picked this book for my soon to be 3rd grader. Just yesterday he learned about irregular verbs. The 1 page introduction to topics is great because he can get a taste of what the year ahead will be like. Each page takes about 10 minutes (when he stays focused on task).
In today's world, we have computers to check the words for us, so people often neglect the important skill of spelling. But I really want my daughter to focus on the spelling practice, because it will help her to build the vocabulary she needs. This workbook came as a great help. This book meets common core state standards. It teaches spelling through suffixes, root words, homophones, reading and comprehension practice. It not only builds and boosts key skills, but also makes learning easy and fun. My daughter's favorite is the 200 gold reward stars, while I am really satisfied by the parents' section filled with answers, tips, and guidance. For more practice, we also use Beestar vocabulary program (a wonderful website beestar.org). It starts with well-explained new words, and then follows by ten challenging multiple-choice questions. It also has crossword puzzles and vivid articles to fill in missing words. In the Beestar online tests, she is ranked high in the honor roll. She's already seeing how the techniques help her in her normal vocabulary work. She is now probably the top student in her class. I’m very pleased with this book.
the book is going to be fun for us to do in home schooling. only thing i don't like is that i find the words to be too easy for 3rd grader. but will use as a review tool and will be useful.
This book makes spelling fun. My ESL tutee has difficulty with printing as he suffered an injury to his right side upon his birth. He is motivated and diligent, and he wants to be the first in his class IN EVERTHING! His mother lets him call from her cell phone when picking up his older brother because he is so proud. Diego is a little chatter bug and is a charming, yet talkative boy with so much energy. Hey, Diego, can you place your energy in a candy bar so your tutor can snatch a bit of energy when she needs it?I give him workbooks to read and complete so that he can stay NUMERO UNO in his class. The school homework assigned for the week on Monday is completed on Tuesday, he mother indicates. His father helps him in reading when he needs assistance; however, that is not often at all. As the family speaks their native language at home, Diego needs all the help he can receive. His mother only speaks English to one person: me.My Spanish food vocabulary is growing; however, my limited Spanish is coming back ever so slowly. I am suppose to respond to the mother's English with my Spanish in complete sentences. On my part, long pauses are usual as I try to use the right tense.Diego will love this book and learn so much about spelling.
I bought this booklet for my son to help him with his spelling and grammar. This book has been a great purchase and has helped him his grammar. I definitely recommend it!
I bought this for summer activities and he loves it! My 9yr old said he likes the type of words the and activities the book has, great for a review through summer time!
I have liked how simple the explanations are, but some could be a little clearer. I do like the things it is going over.
