Love these books. Currently homeschooling and the Kumon books are awesome with helping from start to finish. I hope they continue to add to the collection and I would love for them to go as high as highschool level
Very good at teaching proper English and the correct technique for framing essays. I like 90% of the book. I could do without the "environmental propaganda" in some of the exercises. I am a homeschooling mom of four, and I use this book for my eldest daughter who is 9.
I believe writing is a very important skill for every child, so I have always been trying to improve my son's writing skills. After my son finished the grade 5 Kumon writing workbook, he really needed advanced writing practice. This workbook with excellent prompts came as a great help. It has inviting prompts for sixth graders. My son really likes the prompts. It is a workbook of imaginative situations and questions that got my son using his brain to come up with wildly creative ideas when he began to put pen to paper. It has given my son a chance to grow his creativity and imagination, and it made writing much more exciting for him. I'm glad I bought another good Kumon writing workbook for my son.For more practice, we simply used the online writing exercises on the Beestar website. The worksheets are well-designed and have interesting real-life questions for your child to practice. If you are like me, you will be surprised that kids nowadays are pretty quick and smart in online learning.
The front half of the book is good for going over grammatical concepts, which 6th graders don't get enough of at school anymore. However, the explanations for these concepts can be confusing at times. The latter half focuses on essay writing. Some of the activities are good, but most lessons are dull and repetitive.
This is a really nice workbook for my son who is in between 5th and 6th grade. I needed something fun for homeschooling him to cover writing and I think this is going to work just fine!
Was challenging for my daughter and thats what I wanted.
It is concise material for a student starting 6th grade especially to use your summer time wisely
Great buy to help with the writing skills they no longer seem to teach even though they want our child to produce a good report!
