I really liked Max the Brave. I thought that is was a very cute story and very well done. Max is a little kitten who is very brave and that likes to chase mice. There is a slight problem though. Max has absolutely no idea what a mouse looks like!We then follow along with Max as he asks various other animals if they are Mouse. Unfortunately none of them are. He eventually asks Mouse (but he has no idea he is asking him) if he has seen himself. Of course, Mouse tells him no and gives him some bad advice that ends up scaring poor little Max!I think that this story is great to read to a little one. It allows you to open up a discussion with them about bravery and how it's okay to not be brave all the time. That it is okay to be scared once in awhile. It also features a lot of different types of animals not just Max and Mouse, allowing your littles to experience more creatures.I also really liked the illustrations. While they were very simple they were still done very nicely and well. The colors are bold and there is very little extra going on on the page to distract your little one from the story.Max the Brave is a great storytime book!Find more of my reviews here:http://readingwithcupcakes.blogspot.com/
Max is a brave and fearless kitten and he is totally ready to start catching mice. The only problem? Max isn't sure what a mouse looks like. Max sets out to find mouse with hilarious results in this playful and engaging picture book.Max the Brave (2015) by Ed Vere is a great read-a-loud choice. Each page features a different color background to make Max stand out even more in bold contrast. Animals drawn largely in black serve to underscore the big reveal at the end.An amusing story with sight gags similar to John Klassen's "hat" books, this one is sure to have lots of appeal with readers of all ages.
Max is a charming kitty looking to be brave. One day he decides to go out, in search of a mouse, meeting with several individuals, as well as a bit of trouble. I read this delightful book to my Ewoks; who best to share it with? They never lost interest and giggled the entire time. The fun characters, combined with my comical voices, made Max the Brave an entertaining read before bed. Ed Vere's illustrations are bold and appealing to toddler eyes, mine too. With a monsters who wasn't terrifying and expressions that were relatable, I think children of all ages will enjoy it- I know we did. MAX THE BRAVE is a cute little book for the 5 and under crowd. The artwork is minimalist and cute and the plot can be summed up quickly as:MAX is a cute kitten. A kitten who would chase mice if he only knew what they looked like. There's a little bit of a 'Are You My Mother?" chase as Max searches for the elusive mouse. And there's a cute twist at the end involving the mouse where it misdirects Max.MAX THE BRAVE is for the 5 and under crowd. I think they will enjoy the story because... well, it's got kittens and monsters!
This book is super cute! The graphics are very simple, but the story is adorable, especially for the kitty lover. Max sets out to find a mouse, however he doesn't know what one looks like. He goes out asking everyone that he encounters if they are a mouse. Simple, cute and comical. My 3 year old loves it.
This is a very cute book. The illustrations are simple, the sentences are short - together they tell the story very well. I have a 5 year old. She really enjoyed the book and picked up on the subtleties of the illustrations. I expect this is a book she will enjoy as she learns to read...and it was a fun read for me too.
Look out for the book tour on my blog for this title in September!https://nerdybookaddict.wordpress.com/This is a very cute book! Its about a little black kitten who is trying to find out what a mouse is so that he can go and chase him. He visits with several animals and helps to teach kids some different types of animals that are out there in the world. There are some phrases in the book that young children might not really understand what they mean and you may have to explain it to them. Other than that this book is absolutely perfect for readers starting to read or children who love story time. The illustrations were perfect, simple and very adorable and really follow along with the story. I think children would really enjoy looking at all of the pictures of the cat searching around for a little mouse if they don't know how to read yet. I do highly recommend this book if your young, old, in the middle. I think you will enjoy this kitten's little adventure. Please Note: I have received an copy of this book, from the publisher in exchange for an honest Review.
Cute illustrations. Unfortunately, there's a monster that eats Max partway through. Max survives with no ill effect, but my sensitive monster-averse 3-year-old literally crawled across the bed to get away from the book. So much for this being a good new bedtime story. :-/
