Looking for the familiar "Pete" charming rhyme, the enchanting, clever, repetitious, easily remembered refrains? The delightful songs, the enchanting story line, the can't wait to turn the page narrative, the contageous humor, the cat that can't be anything but loved? Buy one of the former Pete The Cat books--THAT Pete is a no show here. Here you get watered down, superficial "history" with little charm and ho-hum narrative with a cat named Pete that has no point in the whole of it. At $3.00 it's still a book not worth buying. Alas. The first Pete's were outasight...hope Pete's found, but he's a no show in The First Thanksgiving.
My grandson loves his other Pete The Cat books, but this one was written differently and not in early reader style. I would not buy it again.
My kids love Pete the Cat, but this book doesn't live up to the others. Particularly, there is no Pete the Cat song/singing, which the kids noticed and missed right away.
Did the same author write this as did the originals? Is it now a ghost writer? The text is mundane -- even my 7 year-old noticed. Very disappointing and I hope the original author did not "sell-out."
This is not the typical rhyming Pete the Cat book. I was rather disappointed about this. It is a lift-the-flap book, which the kids loved. I just wish it were typical Pete the Cat.
As other reviewers have stated, this Pete the Cat isn't much like the rest of his books. It is lacking charm, song, and rhythmic cadence. The flaps are a little awkward, since some of them contain additions to the story while other's do not. My kids weren't as enthralled with this as with the others. The art is still cute, though. The history is quite abridged, but it's accuracy is definitely questionable.
Disappointed that there isn't a Pete the Cat jingle in this one. Also the flaps seem kind of flimsy. I don't know how long it'll last. Good information, but not as fun as some of the other PtC books.
My 5yrs. old grandson loves these Pete the Cat books! My daughter wanted to teach him about Thanksgiving. This book has colorful pictures and fun drawings but at the same time presents the information in an interesting format for kids. He will gain a better understanding of what Thanksgiving is about and then this holiday will mean more to him. has a Thanksgiving Activities Book that I gave him along with this one which will enforce the Story of Thanksgiving. Learning to be thankful is important for kids to know. This is a fun way to get them thinking.
