My son is 7 years old, and although this book is far below his reading level, he still loves to read it. He has collected the Splat series over the last year and each book is as exciting as the first. He will lay in bed at night reading this over and over. Splat is a cute character who parents won't tire of after hearing the same book every night.
We love Splat the Cat at our house and have several of his books already. This is another adorably illustrated little book, similar to the others. This particular version is paper back (and less durable, therefore) than the hard backed versions we own. But it is perfectly fine (unless, like us, you have a destructive 1 year old in the house!) in terms of quality. Cute plot! This is a good book for older siblings to read, as it demonstrates some of the "virtues" and advantages of having a younger sibling (in this case, it is an older brother with a younger sister).
This book is very cute. My kids love Splat and adore his pet and this teacher Miss Wimpydimple. This book is more about sibling relationships than it is about back to school but all in all it's adorable and funny. A+++
This is a nice little book - about 20 pages. It tells of Splat the Cat's homework assignment on his first day back from summer vacation. He has a hard time with it, but once he thinks about it, he figures it out. And in the process, he discovers a nice little lesson about valuing his sibling.
We were introduced to Splat the Cat at Storytime at a local (former) chain book store. Rob Scotton was there himself to read to the children and teach them how to draw Splat. What a fun guy. We bought 4 autographed books on the spot and now I have bought the readers for my 4 year old to learn with. It's great to have him learn while giggling over Splat's antics!
I love these books and the kids enjoy reading them. The Kindle version is the item I am reviewing here. On a Kindle 7" HDX the print is much too small. It is very, very tiny and it cannot be enlarged at all. This is a print replica so you cannot adjust the font size.
Our kindergarten-age grandson enjoys the humor of this book. It is available at his school, but now he likes having it in his home library. Good for beginning readers. This is a good investment to be passed on to younger siblings.
I love all Splat's books. The ilustrations are beautiful and the stories are worth reading. They are educative for 5 year olds. I always buy the new Splat books when they come out. And I have discovered that the "I can read" are as good as the regular ones. Enjoy!
