I happened to be visiting the school from where I retired and saw kids scrambling to check out some new books. I asked the media specialist why where they all so excited. Profusely illustrated with photographs of Brown and associates, family, and friends, the book also has highlighted vocabulary with an explanatory glossary in the book's appendix.Never condescending to the young reader, the book treats the reader with respect and has text that is engaging and informative. My son had to do a book report on a favorite character. He loves R and B so he picked Chris Brown. I was happy that this book was descent and did not talk about all of the materialism that Rap and Hip Hop seems to be into. When I asked if he still wanted the book after the report was over he gave me an enthusiastic, "YES!!" Chris Brown seems to be an upstanding role model and for my nine year old boy in this crazy world, I am good with that!
