Told from two different perspectives, My Little Crocodile is about a chance meeting between a crocodile and what he believes to be a "baby crocodile." This meeting profoundly changes their lives, which then continue along their own individual paths, though the bonds of love and intimacy remain. The story plays with ideas about the relationship between parent and child as well as with those about how how deeply chance and the choices we make affect us throughout our lives.Born in 1971, Gaëtan Dorémus received his degree from the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg, France, in 1999, after which he picked up a few other degrees while creating picture books and illustrations for the press. Dorémus has illustrated over twenty books and has produced hundreds of editorial illustrations and cartoons. He loves to bicycle ride, walk in the mountains, and eat green tomatoes with cinnamon. In 2006, he became a papa.

Sarah Klinger's translation and lettering are absolutely beautiful and add even more to this adorable tale of a crocodile and his "baby". Gaëtan Dorémus's illustrations and storytelling are magical. Really enjoyed this book and grateful it's now available in English.
This supposed "children's" book is about a crocodile who finds a knight who is a boy, but thinks the boy is actually a baby crocodile. The crocodile tries to take care of him as if the boy is a crocodile but is often confused at what the "baby" can and cannot do.This had a cute premises, but if you look at the pictures, it seems to be a rated "R" children's book (if there ever was one). My 4 year old daughter almost cried when on page (about) 3 and 4 when the crocodile ate a pretty bird. She left immediately after that. I still had my 6 year old listening, though, so I read on. In about the middle of the book, I couldn't believe my eyes. As I finished reading the page, I look at the pictures to find a severed animal paw with blood squinting out of it and a pool of blood on the ground! I quickly turned the page in hopes that my son didn't see it. Never again will that book be read especially to children! I will try and post pictures on here of the problem pages if I can figure it out from my phone.
SUCH a touching book! Very cute, very sweet, yet broaching on some more complex subjects that are of interest to young children (the "other"). I absolutely love this book and believe it will be one of the select few that is kept after my kids are too old for it, and saved for the grandkids. :-)I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book and was under no obligation to share my thoughts, but I am providing my honest opinion, as always.
Beautiful illustrations. My 7 year old grandson "got" the humor as well as the problems of the relationship.
