My 3 year old loves this trick or treat book and the stickers inside. It was a huge hit for pre halloween prep. Love the Bernstein Bears books, and the positive message about not judging people by their appearances. It is long, so kids with a shorter attention span might not be able to sit through the entire story.
Of course there is a Berenstain Bears Halloween book. This series has a book for every single occasion in a small child's life. The thing is though, that the authors do such an excellent job of fitting a lesson to each occasion in a non-preachy way that keeps kids coming back.
The book's message, "appearances can be quite deceiving," focuses on a spooky, old house with an elderly woman named Miz MGrizz. The little bears learn to not judge people unkindly by their appearance.This is a tricky message as so much of the parental advice prior to Halloween is for kids to be on their guard.The book does reinforce some great Halloween safety messages:1. Stay in your own neighborhood.2. What more can I really say about a Berenstain Bears' book that hasn't been said over all the years they have been around? This one is just as wonderful as the rest and was a great addition to our son's library.Thank you Stan, Jan & Mike
I remember reading this when I was a kid. I thought my child would enjoy it too, but it's not one of his favorites. The authors were on his reading list for school and Halloween was approaching so it seemed like a good fit. I still gave it five stars because I loved the Berenstain Bears from reading as a child.
A classic from my childhood, sharing it with my little one. Our 2 year old son was only lukewarm to this one, but I think the Berenstain bears may be a little advanced (long and wordy). Good lessons, good story and great illustrations. Will keep this in our Halloween rotation for many years.
A nice little book that teaches a few good lessons. Trick or treat together, stay in your neighborhood, and appearances aren't always what they seem. :) Good for little ones just starting to trick or treat!
This is a perfect Halloween book for young children because it's not scary like most other Halloween books are. Also, it teaches a good lesson of acceptance (i.e., appearances can be deceiving). We are still reading this at bedtime at my house even though it's already Christmas time! This one will be a favorite for years, I think.
