Spooky Pookie is a great book for the three year old crowd—the concept of Halloween really comes together at that age. This book looks at one aspect of the holiday—what to wear. Readers get to see Pookie try on an assortment of get-ups before he actually decides which is the perfect costume. Our three year old especially loves Pookie's side comments as he finds fault with each outfit. We make Pookie sound like any unhappy three year old, and he loves the whiny imitations. A fun, short, silly book—the kind children like best.
I LOVE this book! We received this book just a few days ago and we have already read it about 20 times. My son LOVES it! I love most Sandra Boynton books but this one is becoming a quick favorite. I was looking for a Halloween book when this released and I was so excited because I knew it would be good just because it's Sandra Boynton and well I was right. The story is cute about Pookie trying on all sorts of costumes for Halloween. That is exactly what my son has been doing too! Daily we change from Batman to Jake to Buzz. I have no idea which one he will choose on the day of Halloween but that's what it's about and this book teaches him to be who he wants to be!
We started our collection of Boynton books with Are You a Cow? that I read to my granddaughter so often I knew it by heart and this book is adorable for Halloween! We love Ms Boynton's sense of humor when she writes for the little ones.
This is an adorable little Halloween book. I bought it for my baby granddaughter for Halloween. At 9 months old, I doubt she appreciates how cute it is yet, but she does seem to enjoy Boynton's charming, colorful illustrations (as do I!) and the rhyming prose. I know I enjoy reading it to her and that we'll both enjoy it for years to come.
My 4 year old son LOVES Boynton books, especially Pookie. We read Night Night Pookie to him from the time he was a newborn, which I believe has instilled in him a love for books. I pre-ordered Spooky Pookie, and it does not disappoint! My son has already memorized some parts. I highly recommend this one. It's fun for the kids and the parents, too!
This new Spooky Pookie Boynton book is really great! Spooky Pookie has lots of fun rhyming, several different characters that Pookie dresses up as for halloween before settling on being a ghost. FWIW, we have several other Boynton books (What's Wrong Pookie, Night Night Pookie, Moo Baa La La La, Going to Bed Book, Hippos Go Berserk, Happy Hippo Angry Duck, Pajama Time, Barnyard Dance, Blue Hat Green Hat, Belly Button, etc.) and we have had mixed success with them. For example, we much prefer NNP over WWP, GTBB and HGB over HHAD and PT, etc. I think you'll like Spooky Pooky! Boo!!!!!
As with all of the "Pookie" books, this one is just as amusing. Little Pookie trying to figure out what he wants to be for Halloween and all of the trials that go along with costumes (itchy). My child loves the Pookie & Boynton books, so this was no exception.
We love all of Sandra Boynton's books! We have been reading them for 9 years now with 3 different daughters and they never get old for the even the adults to read. This book is no different! Cute story and addition to Little Pookie series.
