If your child is already a fan of Red Pajama or the other Llama Llama storybooks, they are probably too old for this board book. Our 3 year old loves Llama Llama Books. She regularly chooses one of the story books for her bedtime story. We were already owners of the original books (Red Pajama, Misses Mama, Mad at Mama, etc.) at the time and we pre-ordered all four of the board books. Our daughter was 2 at the time and we jumped on any new Llama Llama books that came out. Unfortunately, these books were a completely different level than the originals and we didn't realize it at the time because the description didn't have any age level information in it. We were very disappointed and our daughter showed no interest in the board books after the initial read. They are pure board books with very simple writing. We're talking 4-6 words per page with very little story. They may be good for babies and very young toddlers, but I can't imagine they will keep a child's interest very long. There are much better board books out there. In conclusion, if your child is already a fan of the original Llama Llama story books like Red Pajama and Misses Mama, do not buy these books. They are not the same and are for a much younger audience. You will be disappointed.
The full sized books have a story- this one just shows what LLama LLama does to get ready for bed. My girls love the Red Pajama book and want me to read it over and over. We read this one and they have yet to ask for it again. It is a nice quality book and nice pictures, just not much of a story. I debated giving it 3 stars just because I was so disappointed in it, but I think I was expecting a lot since the others are so good. Good book, just not in the same class as the previous ones.
This is a simpler book than the others ... but I thought it was perfect for my 2-month-old who is just getting settled in a nighttime routine. As he gets older we'll definitely want to do the longer books, but as a first nighttime book (along with 10 Minutes to Bedtime and Goodnight, Moon), it's a great addition to our newborn library.
Great for the toddler set! These books are super short, but so sweet. This series makes a great baby shower gift, but if you have to limit yourself, this one and llama llama zippity zoom are our personal favorites. Anna Dewdney also delivers with great rhyme and rhythm. You'll have these short stories memorized in no time.
My daughter loves the books in the Llama Llama series. The books introduced her to an animal she would not have normaly been familiar with and the stories are ones she can relate to even at her age (3 1/2). She likes to read them back to me from memory and talk about what is going on in the pictures. The stories in these books teach good habits like doing chores and being polite. This series of books are a favorite in my family and would recommend them to anyone with small children.
I guess that I am partially to blame. I bought this book because my 2.5 year old daughter loves her other Llama Llama books. I purchased this book to update her "library" to match her development and growing interest in books which this book really won't do. Unlike the full sized books, this book is only 14 pages (as accurately reported on this website...and I missed it). I would strongly recommend it for younger "readers;" however, established Llama Llama fans are likely to be disappointed.
great book and illustrations my grandson loves these Llama Llama books and we read one ever night. the stories are cute and funny many with ideas or themes that create conversation and learning time.
Love me some Llama Llama! What a sweet (and fun) "getting ready for bed" book for children! Nice and short, with fun rhymes and interesting illustrations. This is a board book and because it is short it is perfect for younger (18 mos to preschool aged) children, but I could see it becoming a favorite that lasts beyond and becomes one that they want to read themselves.
