Would your child want to be The Kid Who Changed the World? I think most kids have such great ambitions and unlimited potential that they all could be kids who change the world. That is exactly the point Andy Andrews is making in this book (formerly titled The Boy Who Changed the World). The story begins with a child named Norman and fills the reader in on what Norman did to change the world. Of course Norman couldn't have done it alone! He was helped along the way by Henry who had been helped along the way by George. The colorful illustrations by Philip Hurst enhance the theme that everything we do can touch someone else and make a difference. How is that for some positive reading for your kiddo? It is important to start teaching your children at an early age that God has BIG plans for them! Give them the confidence to shine those gifts He has bestowed upon them and teach them to pray out decisions to find His path for their lives. This book based on a true story is a great way to get that conversation started. Be sure to pray over your kids about their futures and don't be afraid to let the kids hear you! They need to know that they are covered by your prayers. If you aren't fond of praying aloud then keep a prayer journal for each of your kids. I know grown ups who still cherish the prayer journals of their parents.I received a free copy of this book from Tommy Nelson for the purpose of review.
I love this book that was written by Andy Andrews. It makes a great gift to go along with the adult version "The Perfect Moment" by Andy Andrews. I have purchased several copies of each book to give as gifts to parents and their children/
This is such a great book! Got it for my step-daughter who is in the ag program in college. I also got a copy for my 1-year old niece. They both love it. It has a great message and we love that it is based on real people who are from the state in which we live. Great story that you should read!
What a great book! Our kids love it. It's beautifully written and the pictures are wonderful. I like how it weaves stories together to show the impact people have on one another. Can't go wrong with this one.
In a world that seems to tell children that they don't matter, this book is a breath of fresh air. The message that what you do today does matter. In fact what you do today will impact tomorrow and all the days that follow. Most of us learned about George Washington Carver in school. But this book takes us through the ripple effect of his life. It tells about his past and how it affected what he was able to accomplish. It also talks about how his life impacted others and through that millions of people were fed.Not only is this a great book to be read in your home, it would also be a wonderful resource in your education circles. Andy Andrew's website has some great resources that will enhance your book experience. This book would be a great leaping off point in a study of how you can make a difference in the world.I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.
This story starts out with a boy named Norman who wants to change the world. But was it really his idea that changed the world? Or was it Henry? Or was it George? Or was it Moses? After reading this story children and adults will see how one little good deed or idea can go along way and effect so many people.Andy Andrews shows children through this book that it only takes one good idea or deed to make a difference. No one is too small, too insignificant to make a mark on our world. We must always try to leave our world better than when we got there. The illustrations in this book are outstanding, so full of life and color. It gives you a accurate view of the world at the time. Being a teacher, I could see using this book with my students to teach them about science - growing of plants, social studies - how things are different at different eras in our country, life skills - always try, never give up. Parents will enjoy reading this story with their children as well as it is important to teach values of working hard and doing our best. Not only at school but at home and in everyday life as well.5 stars is not nearly enough for this book. I highly recommend you read it and share it with others. You will not be disappointed.
Review of “The Kid Who Changed the World” by Andy Andrews, illustrated by Philip Hurst, and published by Tommy Nelson:The book tells the story of a kid who had a dream and how his dream came to fruition through those who came before him. This children’s book is based on Andrews’ book “The Butterfly Effect.” Decisions we make (and encourage our children to make) can change the world. And that’s what happened with Norman Borlang. Never heard of him? He had a desire to feed the hungry and through the influence of his mentor Henry Wallace, he made some special seeds that would grow into super plants that would feed more people than ordinary plants. But Henry was mentored by George–George Washington Carver that is. And George was adopted by Moses and Susan Carver. All of these people were necessary for Norman’s dream to come true! The basic message of the story is that little things can make a big difference if God is in them! Everyone can do something that will change the world. This is a beautiful and inspirational book for kids, ages 8-12. It’s hardback with a cover and has lovely illustrations.(Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to write this honest review.)
