I purchased this and the story of George Washington for my special education preschool class. They were both great! Of course the heaviness of a board book always adds to the longevity of them, but additionally the illustrations were clear yet lovely. You can easily see his log cabin which helps to do the follow up lesson of a log cabin! I was very pleased with both books.

My toddler is currently 21 months and he is loving all this series. I know some concepts are too elevated for him at this age, but he knows and identifies the founding fathers now, he knows they loved to read and that they were great Americans. This is the type of book that will teach him different things as he gets older.

This children's book couldn't be better for parents wanting to teach their children a little history while at the same time having an easy to read story with great pictures. The pages are very thick and will not tear. The story is very much a young child version but there isn't a better way to start a child learning history than story of Abraham Lincoln

I honestly did not realize that this was a board book when I ordered it; had I known I would not have ordered it as it is well below reading level for both of my children. That being said, it is a wonderful book for youngsters (think kindergarten; beginning readers). We will gift to homeschooling friends with younger children :)

This is a great way to introduce your child to our American history.I plan to buy more of these books by this author. The book is easy for a child to understand and the illustrations areexcellent!

We got this book for my 8 yr. old Autistic son, who is reading at the first grade level, while we were visiting many historical sites on Abraham Lincoln in Springfield, IL. The simple language and relative pictures make the book clear and simple for him to understand. It gave him yet another connection to the things we saw on our trip, and helped him connect Lincoln to everyday items like the penny and the $5 bill, street sign names, etc. I love the hard board pages, as he is less likely to tear them. He seems to enjoy reading and re-reading the story on his own, as well as having it read to him. We also own several other books of this style/series. We bought one on the Star Spangled Banner, have a few others, one relating to Jesus and Easter, another on the story of Moses, and another on the theme of Valentines Day. They are a good series of books in a simple language, whether you have a pre-schooler or a special needs child. It helps even the youngest gain an appreciation for the topics. I'm hoping to get George Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King in the future.

I like that this is basic information to introduce a little bit about our 16th President. I'm just introducing who he was to 4 year olds and this book does a good job.

This is a terrific little book for youngsters about our beloved 16th President! My son couldn't put it down. The illustrations bring this famous story to life.
