I love the baseball books I find on as I have an eight year old grandson who is really into baseball. I got this book for him for Christmas and he loves it.
Our grandchild is really good at baseball (4th grade), and he goes to Brewers games when they find time. He's collecting baseball cards, and loves reading. This is simple reading, so it won't take him long to inhale these stories and share them with his friends.
Chose this for my 11 yr old grandson who loves baseball and reading. Two of his favorite things. I am sure he will enjoy this book and learn about amazing things that happened, perhaps before his time.
This is well written and interesting. I wish at least one of the players was someone current that young fans could relate to.
This is a great introduction to historical fiction and I highly recommend it as a start into an area of history that could spark a desire to look further into these baseball players. The book is quick to read and well written.
Life is a learning experience and I never shy away from reading about great baseball players like those portrayed in this book and all their accomplishments that I can apply to my own life as well as be a better baseball player. How did Jackie Robinson, Babe Ruth, and Joe Dimaggio get into the baseball Hall of Fame? That's a good question that inspired me to read this book. Baseball history was made like Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier; Babe Ruth's disputed "called" Home Run; and Joe Dimaggio's disputed 56 consecutive hits.I encourage every kid to read "Baseball's Best...," and I'm Marvin P. Ferguson, author of Boys On The Gold Coast.
Our daughter loves this book - it's separated into digestible chapters, each around a different player. Filled with facts, but based on broader main ideas, it also serves as a great foundational book.
This book is about some of the best and greatest in baseball. It is written in non-fiction style with photographs. The boys from K - 3rd are interested in this book and it is frequently checked out.
